I know how you feel - I do that for turtles!

A kitten that literally threw itself at my feet as I was walking off the golf course. It was pretty mangy looking. I took it home with me but DH had a fit. We already had a cat and a dog plus four kids and he wasn't a cat lover. After a few days of feeding it it turned out to be quite beautiful. His eyes changed color, his grungy fur (he was a calico) turned nice and white and he had a wonderful disposition. I took him to bridge with me and found a good home for him. Wish I could have kept him but it's a good thing DH keeps me in tow. The house would be over run with animals.

Let me add a foot note to my post.

I hope no one adds any stories of a animal getting hurt ( to badly ) or killed. I have such a tender heart that even if I capture a bug in the house, I use a see through dome to catch it and to make sure it climbs to the top inside and then I slide a piece of cardboard under the bottom and
take it outside...

At the end of last summer, when Walmart had racks of huge, gorgeous mums out front, I picked one up and took it inside and put it in my cart. I then realized there was a jumbo bumblebee on one of the flowers. I carefully cupped my hands around him and took him outside and let him go while the cart attendant looked at me like I had 9 heads. So what? The bumble was happy and so was I!

My most recent one is Mason punching me in the eye.

That felt REALLY.... bad... for a couple of days.

The most recent? Probably rescuing a mouse that had made it into our office. Several women were freaking out, and it was running back and forth along a wall trying to find a way to get away from them.

I walked up with a box, held it down. The mouse climbed in. I slowly walked to the back door, went out, and tipped the mouse out at the end of the parking lot. He was a cute little thing, too.

It was like we knew each other ROFL!

Dances.

I hate (fear) spiders. I used to catch any I found in my house and released them. Now I'm more apt to spray or squish them. But I'm still scared.

Some years ago, when we lived in a farmhouse in the country, a baby Skunk some how got into a window well. Baby Skunks can release their powerful 'weapon' as well as an adult one, so Hubs too a piece of lumber, nailed some cross pieces on it, sort of ladder-like, crawled on his belly across the lawn to the window well where he sort of inched it over the edge, an let it lower into the space, and as quick as any Army commando, crawled and squirmed backwards, out of the spray zone. Pretty soon the little Skunk, climbed out, and waddled away.

this may not sound true but it is. I work in a restaurant and one day I had to mae a phone call and I went out into the coffee shop to make it. I came back into the kitchen making this eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww sound and the other 2 girls wondered what was wrong with me. I pointed to the coffee shop and they went out there and they saw it. It was a salamander that was about 10 to 15 inches long and about 5 inches high. It was just walking along the wall. One of the other girls went out to her car to get a pair of gloves. While she did that he came around the corner and my boss opened the door for him and we let him outside.
I have never seen a salamander that big and I grew up on a farm and after it rained they were all over. We dont know where it came from or how it got in there but it is an old building and we know there are holes in the floor like under the stove and other equipment. Theere is a slough nearby and we figure it came from there. If anyone watches the syfy channel a few years ago there was a show on called Nimh and that is what it reminded me of.
