You needed someone to anchor the pastel look and lamp #1 does that, keeps the room from flying away and makes a beautiful statement in your room. Very pretty.

I love lamp # 1! I think the black shade picks up the black in the frame and also hightlights the dark vase.
I do like the other lamps. Will you be able to use them elsewhere?

How do you see lamp two - it is a white classic column base with a green shade. I am now seeing on the page here lamp one and two as same lamp - one with black shade.
I will probably pack away the other two that I do not use here. Thanks.

I see the same lamp for #1 and #2. Even without seeing the one with the green shade, I vote for the one with the black shade. It looks great with your framed artwork. The glass/crystal lamp base looks nice with the smaller glass frame too.

Lamp #1 both shade and base. Base seems to relate to the picture frame across the way and the black anchors the room well.

I like #2, the white column, with what looks to be a grey shade.

I'm voting for #1 also, and may i say, that watercolor is magnificent. I would have that in my home in a heartbeat.

To me; lamp 2 and 3 "wash out" into the wall. Maybe if the wall was a darker color 2 and 3 would work better. Lamp #1 for sure :)

My vote: Lamp #1 bec of its size

I like the watercolour and the carved decoys (if that is what they are), but neither complements the crystal (or acrylic) picture frame or any of the lamps. In fact, I don't think any of the lamps is really right for this setting. A wooden baluster-base lamp, a brass base, a wrought iron base, a ceramic ginger jar base in an interesting painted pattern, these would complement your artwork. A taupe or linen-coloured shade would be better than a white; perhaps even a linen shade. I would also use something solid in a photo frame---wood (burled or painted), antique brass, nickel, even the right silver would be okay.

Ok, now I am seeing the correct lamp for #2.

Thanks for the complement on the watercolor. I did that for an art class in college. It's of a window at my bungalow house in Wisconsin.

I appreciate all your votes. I will be using one of these lamps and won't be buying a new one. I actually think that all the bases and the first two shades are from Target. The third shade was a brown leather look shade that came with another lamp but it had three pinholes in it. The company sent out a replacement shade and I painted this damaged one with white, beige, and pink. When it is lit the brown underneath comes through.

To start with I liked lamp 1 the best, except that its feminine lines do not go well with the angularity and lack of color in the watercolor. Of the three, lamp 2 with the gray shade would be my choice but I think it would look better if it had a darker shade, such as lamp 1 has, but without the embellishment around the bottom of the shade. Also, kswl has some alternate suggestions for the whole scheme which I think have merit.

I like both #2 and #1. I like the dark shade but something about the fancy trim next to the ducks doesn't feel like it goes as well as the simpler lines of lamp #2. I keep trying to like #1 best like most of the others but then I get pulled back to #2. And it brings out the green vase in the other corner. Maybe I would like #1 better if the ducks and smaller picture swapped places and they didn't swim under the bangles :-) I love the watercolor by the way. That's so fun to have something meaningful to you. Very pretty arrangement with any of them you decide, we're getting very picky here.

I just took a pick of the bed which is kitty korner to this dresser.

I can move the ducks somewhere else.

Should I take the fringe off of the black shade? Would that help?

Weighing in again.I still like the clear lamp with black shade with fringe. I have some fringed lamp shades and I love how they add a glow to the room. Live with it a bit to see how you like the fringe.

I vote for #1. I think every room looks better with a touch of black, I'm not feeling the trim.

If those are silk flowers, and I realize this is very picky, the pinkish one in the back right needs to be propped up closer to the center of the vase, you've got a "hole".

Before reading all of the responses, all I wanted to look at was the watercolor - I see that others have already laid claim to it :(.

I agree with whomever mentioned the ducks. They do not go with such a feminine and delicate tablescape. A pretty covered porcelain dish might look nice in a spot like this.

Lamp #1 definitely works best.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like #2, ducks and all. Love the watercolor, and to me the softer shade on the lamp complements the painting better.

A thought - how about switching the wood framed roses by the bedside with the glass framed roses on the dresser?

Or you could move all of the flowers on to the bed & put the kitty on the dresser.....

Seriously, I like the ducks, & think they go well with the watercolor. I really like mixing elements, but somehow in this case there seems a bit of a clash between the feminine frills & the wood. I'm thinking that switching the pics might be worth looking at.

I would use the first one, the black shade. But I would like to see this lamp be a bit taller than the flowers in the vase. Therefore, I'd set the lamp on a couple of old looking books.

Now that I see your entire room I would vote for number two and paint the base a darker color.

All of them are good in their own right, but I like lamp #2, left as it is, for three reasons...

First, its scale. The other two seem a little too small.

Second, its simplicity. Your lovely painting has a kind of architectural purity that is complemented by #2.

Third, its colors, which are in tune with your painting, and allow the painting to be the thing you notice. The black one is too strong a statement for the simplicity of the picture. The other seems a little too girly for the strength of the composition of the painting.

As you see, I think your water color should be the star. It's really wonderful!

I like #1. It would be interesting to see the grouping once your pretty watercolor is hung on the wall. I love the look of your bed. The color of the wood is so pretty. I can't help but asking where you got those sconces?

I tried to put the black shade from lamp #1 on the white classic column lamp base lamp #2 and even with fringe taped up, the shape of the shade was not right for the base.

The swing lamps next to bed are from a closeout sale on homedecorators.com, I think. I know a gal on here has them in her bedroom as well. There were like $16 or $18 each.

The room does have a mix of elements. The black shade lamp used to be on a black wrought iron glass shelved vanity in the Princess Room which does not exist any more. I gave the twin bed, bedding, and vainty to St. Vincent De Paul a few weeks ago.
I have two large color pencil and ink architectual drawings from a class project and a watercolor (not mine) of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs hanging on wall to right of bed. I have a desk with tv and computer and black office chair opposite of bed in front of window. There is also a large wall clock with a shelf mounted underneath that is on wall to right of dresser.
I used to have several more floral prints in room but I decided it was too many.
Could I paint the green shade from lamp #2 black?

I LOVE your watercolor and think lamp #2 goes best with your beautiful picture because of it's subtle coloring and clean "unfancied" shape.

#1 lamp.....and the ducks should be looking towards the middle of the dresser, not off the edge.

Its like in a book, when working with photos of things with eyes, the eyes should not be looking off the page.

I also would take away the larger picture and possibly the ducks then decide on the lamp. I like base #1 as well as the beads which go with the rose frame but not the color lamp shade.
