I've just came back from my garden and I'm totally exhausted! I decided to make a snowman cuz today it was +3 C here and it was possible to do something with snow:) I have to admit that last time i did a snowman many years ago,so I had some problems with it..I couldn't make a "ball" so at least I did a snow-woman! hah she is a cyclops cuz I couldn't find enough of stones to make 2 eyes:P she is also bald but she has nice skirt!

and when U did last time a snowman??

I don't remember the last time! Never really did much snowman building. More often I'd do snow forts and things to crawl into. And toss some snowballs of course! But again, it's been a long time!

I'll bet you had a lot of fun.

I probably haven't made a snowman or woman since my kids were little so I would say 20 years ago? Sounds like you had tons of fun. I am waiting for that 6 to 8 inches of snow we are expecting to get starting in tonight through Saturday morning.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I have had lots of people make similar trees after they saw him. He was on the HGTV show so briefly, that I wasn't sure anybody really saw him. I naively thought if anyone was interested after seeing him on the TV show, that HGTV would contact me. NOPE!! I didn't even know the HGTV website had message boards then. One slow day at work last fall I was looking at pictures on Rate My Space and saw a posting about a Snowman Tree. I clicked on it and the person said she was trying to make one like the one she saw on the HGTV show!! I responded and found out message board members had been trying to find me since the show had been on!! Needless to say, I sent out a lot of descriptions of how I had made the tree. Then I started being a regular visitor to the message boards, and was posting pictures there when Karen found me and invited me over here. The rest is history, LOL Now you can't get rid of me. Although this was posted in 2007 and it's 2016 I thought I would throw in my 2 cents regarding pricing. My wife's family have been making a different x-mas craft each thanksgiving after dinner for about 20 years. Like many others, we do not sell what we make but when people see what is made they want to buy one. Items mass produced will typically be lower cost because of the low cost labor used outside the U.S. If you factor in the cost of your material and the time it took to make each at a reasonable US hourly rate w/o benefits and then mark it up by a % you feel is appropriate, then that is what I would use. Otherwise you maybe giving them away and losing money. At the very least cover your cost if making x-mas items for sale give you personal joy. This year we are using the coil springs to make various Santa's and Snowmen. I personally went out and found an old coil spring mattress and used bolt cutters to remove about 50 of them. Granted, I got 50 springs but I also have about 2 hours of my own time in the process. I value my time and car expense more than what companies are paying workers in China, Thailand, Mexico, etc. We typically buy decorating items from Hobby Lobby to hold the cost down of each project but we have also sewn wool caps from scratch for decorating glass blocks into frosty the snowman that you will not find anywhere else. One year I went out to the woods and cut logs from several different diameters and drilled/doweled them together to make snowmen. Greetings Emma, Just wait - second childhood catches up with a good many of us, sooner or later. _______________ Daughter gave me a substantial book about Warren Buffett, the Oracle of Omaha, and the title is "The Snowball" ... the premise being that one rolls a snowball to about the size necessary to build a snowperson ... ,... (oh, right - my mistake ... "snowman" may be the proper word ... as dew women [that was supposed to be "few", dang it!] may be interested in being labelled "chilly" ... let alone "cold") ... ... near the top of a hill, then pushes it over the edge ... it grows as it rolls, to a much larger size. When one hangs on to some of the money that passes through one's hands ... and puts it to work, skilfully - same difference. Question: what does it cost to delay an investment program for one year that's to run for many years? Answer: the amount that it would have grown in the last year prior to being cashed out. ole joyful ... quite a lot of snow around here ... but too hard (and crusted) for balling ... or manning ("personning"?)

Jasdip I never get tired of seeing the pandas. These ones at the zoo are often shown on our news programs. ****** We have pandas at our zoo. We went to see them around Thanksgiving and it was very quiet and cordoned off. Here, Bei Bei had just been rushed into surgery for an intestinal blockage of wadded up bamboo. Here he is a few weeks later, recovering nicely ;-)

yeap I had a lot of fun! especially when my dog was bothering me :D she loves snow! snow forts are also good but it's better to do it with someone else cuz it's hard work

Haven't made one in years.There's been quite a bit of snow around here,not where we are but a few miles away.Someone sent in a picture to the local news station yesterday showing their "snow sculpture".It was a 4 door pickup truck pulling a horse trailer.Looked to be about 3 ft. high.LOL

Oh, fun!! It has been years, but used to make them with the kids. Today I drove to the Library and had to smile when I passed a house and they had a family of snow people in their front yard, Obviously a Dad, Mom two kids and even what looked like a dog. I could picture the family out there making their snow family, together. Dottie

The last time I made a snowman I'm surprised I didn't get written up at work. A co-worker and I went out and built one outside our building, just before quitting time. We made it a very chesty snow woman....another gal who lived close by went home and got a bra to put on it. The reason I say we should have gotten 'written up' about it was because this was at a public school. At least we had sense enough to do it AFTER hours, but still...... I'd never do it today.

Gadgets, that's so funny.

As a CA native I never even saw snow until I was about 17 years old. The first time our family tried to build a snowman, we gave up pretty fast, totally amazed at the amount of work it takes.

a very long time! We dont' get much snow here! Last year we had a lot, but i had other things going on. I SHOULD have taken some time for some fun in the snow though. It would have been good.

It's been many years - my "kids" are closer to 50 than 40.

I remember my last snowball, though - last year when daughter flew me to AZ, there was no hint of snow in Phoenix, but there was prior to our arrival at Flagstaff en route to the Canyon ... so when we stopped at the motel in Flagstaff, I threw a snowball at her.

I'm reading a 700 pp. book (with over 100 pp. of notes) now, called "The Snowball" ... the definitive story of the life of Warren Buffett, a few years ago the richest man in the U.S. (maybe the world).

What a great way to spend the day Zuzka...I'm gonna have to go find a conversion and see what 3C is...I can't remember how to convert to Farenheit!

You just keep that snow...I had to put up with rain today and that was bad enough!
