Wall crown molding meeting hood molding - space issue

I have wall crown coming from either direction on one wall, each stopping with a return. There is 24" between the two stops. The hood exhaust chimney must go up between the two stops. There is no cabinetry involved...the hood stands alone.

Aesthetically, how much space should I leave between each stop and the hood chimney (assuming I can make the hood chimney as wide or narrow as I wish)?

Generally, the preferred look is to have the crown continue across uninterrupted and go around the hood vent. That's a more traditional approach. The look you are describing is only done when the rest of the room doesn't have crown molding and the cabinets do. That's a transitional contemporary look.

I assume you mean the wall crown should be attached to the hood chimney and surround it. If so, given that my hood will be a custom copper hood and the wall crown is painted white, would that "look" be okay? In other words, a copper hood with white crown molding?

IMO, the cabinetry crown should be the same shade of white as the cabinets. On another thought, does the wall crown molding profile and size match the cabinetry molding profile and size? If not, I can see two options: 1. Stop the wall moulding short of the cabinet and allow for a few inches of wall space before the cabinetry crown hits in the wall (which means the two shades of white won't touch) or 2. Have a bear of a time trying to scribe the cabinetry molding to fit over the wall crown molding. If by chance they are the same profile and size I'd still match the molding to the cabinetry. I ask about the profiles because it is the issue that caused my hood to drop low enough for the cabinetry crown to hit the wall below my wall crown.

Mine's a Vent-a-hood (Euroline Pro model, EPH18-242-SS) that I bought from a local retailer. I wanted something eye catching yet still simple since there's a lot going on with the tile. Help with crown molding and window spacing

The room might not be style-appropriate for traditional colonial crown molding. But I have seen rooms with a thin band of material placed where the wall meets the ceiling. If you did the thin band, maybe an inch high, then you could stop it at the windows and paint the thin sections of wall above the windows to match the molding. If it were my house, I would skip the crown molding, skip the ceiling tile, and spend my time and money getting the popcorn off the ceiling.

Sorry, don't have any real photos yet, but I have an old drawing that at least gives perspective on what I'm trying to convey. Worth mentioning the hood in the picture is not right. Our hood is 36in wide on top as is the duct cover all the way to the ceiling. Bottom of hood is 54in. Also probably worth mentioning we have no desire to try to cram more upper cabinets in that space as we have 18ft of cabinets on the opposite wall. Ceilings are 9ft and not 100% sure of dims on crown, but it will be in the ~6in range to match the rest of the house. Cabinets shown are not correct height. They'll run nearly to ceiling and close the small gap with crown.

I struggled with how to run the crown on the wall with my rangehood between two windows. On this thread where I was asking for help, you can see a few different pics of crown and hood treatment. Maybe one of these pics will help.

Here's what I ended up doing. No crown. I will, when I pick tile, run it eurosplash style on the whole hood wall.
