This is interesting! I took this test late last night and wished I had saved it for morning, when I (hopefully) wasn't so tired. I scored 95% on the first category and 78% on the second. I didn't take the recommended five-minute breaks; I don't know if that makes a difference.

The test consists of three parts: You'll be shown 12 photos in the first part, and you'll be shown another 12 photos in the second part. You'll be shown 48 photos in the third part and asked if you saw them in the first part, the second part - or never saw them at all. When you have finished the third part, your results will be given to you.

Dear Tammy, please accept my deepest sympathies. I lost an infant son 14 years ago so I have some idea of your pain. The grief you feel will subside but you will never forget. I never knew my grandparents, but I did know some of my Aunts and Uncles. Aunt Kate was my favorite. This is something I wrote a while back about the influence she had on me. If it is too long, just SOB. If there had been an Oscar for Best Aunt, my Aunt Kate would have won. She became a legend in our family, not because of anything great that she did, but just for being, well, for being Aunt Kate. Apparently she had a peculiar immune system that prevented her from acquiring much of the education she was exposed to. Some of her remarks are still quoted and passed on to each new generation in our family. She had no worldly goods to leave behind. As a six-year-old on a summer visit, though, she gave me an intangible gift. Being the youngest in a large family, I was never given any chores or responsibilities. Aunt Kate changed that. She took me to the hen house and showed me how to rob the nests. She explained the purpose of the nest eggs. Foolish hens! henhen Could they not see those were doorknobs, not real eggs? One morning she gave me the basket and told me to gather the eggs. Me? I had never done anything on my own. Aunt Kate was trusting me to go, alone, to the hen house and bring back those eggs! The nests were warm and the hens were singing their hen songs. And I was gathering eggs, counting as I went. Wearing my pride for all to see, I returned to the house and handed over the basket. No one stood up to cheer. Did no one notice this metamorphosis? Did I not look older? Taller, wiser? Gathering eggs may not have been exciting to the others, but to me, I had just made my first trip into another world, a world that a child had entered with an invisible passport. Aunt Kate not only had chickens. She also had a cow. Now, real live cows don't look like the ones in the picture books. They don't really say moo, either. I had watched Aunt Kate milk: she even tried to teach me. I still remember the technique, though I have never had any desire to repeat it. The second trip into Grown-up Land came one afternoon when Aunt Kate asked me to bring the cow up to the shed. I had passed egg-gathering with a good grade. Bringing the cow in must be postgraduate work. All I needed to do, she said, was hold the chain and the cow would follow me. That might have worked for Aunt Kate, but that old cow was having none of it with this puny little kid. Old Bossie dug her feet into the dirt and those huge eyes dared me to pull on that chain. Didn't she know I had been emancipated? I wasn't just a kid. I had graduated from egg-gathering. Surely I could get a cow to follow me. I pulled. Old Bossie stood her ground. I tugged. She gave her head a swift shake and a twist and bawled something that definitely didn't sound like moo. The chain went sliding through my hand, leaving a trail of blood where there had been . . . had been . . . a wart on my finger. The wart was gone. The cow was gone. Dripping blood and crying for my mother, I was a little kid again. I knew I had lost my credentials. I was a dropout from cow school. I decided that egg-gathering was just about right for a six-year-old. What did I really learn? Just this: it takes more than a week at Aunt Kate's to turn a kid into a grownup. Jen, we still call them knocklockers, too. I could NOT figure out what she wanted until her mother told me! She also asked her dad once if he was "impres-ted" by something she did, so we say that all the time. And "good job, Eli", no matter who we're talking to, cause Julee says that to Eli a lot. Steph told us once we couldn't throw some papers away, cause they were her "potent" papers. Funny how that stuff then becomes part of the family vocabulary! My mom still says "lardlight" and "pidow" instead of yard light and pillow, because my brother called them that.

A 6.1 pH in a soil that fizzes (free calcium/Magnesium carbonate). No anomaly that would produce that comes to mind. Don't bother with a AA test. It's not going to be beneficial this year. We'll assume that all the soil is 8.4 pH and you can retest next year with AA. I don't like making recommendations at the 3-6" level for turf but here goes: Everything in your soil is not only above minimum levels, but decently into sufficient and some even at optimal levels EXCEPT Phosphorous which is detrimentally deficient ( your turf probably did well the first couple of years because sod farms pound their turf with P and you used up the residual that was present). In fact. P is well below critical. Potassium (K) and Boron are also a bit low. but we only need to keep an eye on B and kick K up. It's Phosphorous though, big time. The clay is going to be a real PITA. Edited: Before we go forward: Are you willing/can you afford to aerate twice this year? Can you find/want to pay for Triple fertilizer (10-10-10, 12-12-12, etc) ? Can you find/want to pay for Triplesuper Phosphate ? Can you find/want to pay for Sulfate of Potash/Potassium Sulfate/Sop? Can you find/want to pay for Milorganite (5-4-0) ?

Take the 5 minute rest!

I did not and although scoring 100% on recognition (meaning no false positives) I only garnered a score of slightly less than average on placement of the photos in 'part 1' or part 2'.

I think the 5 min rest solidifies the images in the correct group in the brain.

Well I got 83% on Recognition Score and 75% on the Temporal Memory Score.

Wow, I did a lot better than I thought. I got 100% on the recognition part but only 83% correct on grouping. In real life, I don't have a very visual memory and I'm not great with remembering faces. Names are even harder for me.

I ended up taking 10 or more minutes
away from the first part! lol
WAAAAAAY too long.. I got up to do something
and ended up doing something else! LOL

I got called into a meeting so there was a bit more than 5 mins between the second and third test. I suspect that is why my score is lower than average. I should come back and do it later when I can dedicate the correct amount of time on it.

No wonder I am always saying "I should know you from somewhere!"

I had no false positives, but I wasn't very good at remembering which group, with a 68%.

I did much better than I thought I would and I did take the 5 minute breaks as suggested.

I got 100% on the first part and 79% on the second.

I had no false positives, but didn't do well. Not that I expected to - I'm terrible with faces, names, and anything else that actually requires paying attention to the world around me.:) I got 79% on recognition and 57% on memory.

BTW, Susan, did you see that they said that lack of sleep doesn't affect the recognition part, though it does affect temporal memory, as does ageing.

I went way long between part 1 and 2 and kind of short between part 2 and part 3. Very neat test!

Better not use me in a line up. I made 87% in the first part, identifying 4 that I had never seen. Did better in the second part. Made 78%.

That was interesting!
I got 95% on the first one and 73% on the second.I was surprised I did that well.Didn't take the 5 minute breaks either.May do it again later when the kids are in bed and see if there's a difference.
I have been doing the Brain Games every day for about 3 weeks.They are fun too.Suppose to keep the brain working!LOL

Well, I've definitely got the aging thing going!

Glad so many of you took the test. Not so glad so many of you did better than I. :-)

Very Cool. I manage to get 100% on both ! But I am a real people watcher, i find myself studying peoples faces alot.

I make up for it by having an excellent sense of direction. I never get lost but I have no idea who is with me.

I got 92% and 68%. I was really tempted to not do the test, as I'm not very confident about recognizing faces. I did get 100% on those that were not shown in part l or 2.

I would not be reliable in a line up. I always wonder how people can give a description to a sketch artist and it looks like the person.

I did pretty good. I, too, am a PPW...professional people watcher. I got 98 on the recognition and 99 on temporal memory. Not bad for an old bird. LOL That was interesting.

I got 100% in the Recognition and 83% in the Temporal Memory.
I got 4 wrong out of the photos that were in Part 1 and none wrong in the photos of Part 2 and the ones that were never shown.
