LOL Yes, Cindy you need to add bacon, ham, or fatback to your beans and peas if you want to be a Southerner! ;) I also like cowpeas better than any butter beans, but I was born and raised in SC. I have been experimenting with seasoning the BJBB's. 20 minutes does seem a little short on cooking time, but I usually use my crockpot for cooking them. Were they kinda hard in the middle? Did you salt them when you started cooking them? I have found out that the salt needs to be added towards the end of cooking or they will be kinda tough. The best ones I have had were in the crockpot. I put in a slice of bacon and two cloves of garlic, chopped fine and cooked on the low setting for 2 hours. Added salt and cooked another hour. The next best was with a chunk of sugar cured ham. I tried country ham too but the beans seemed tough from the salt,I should have washed the ham first, I guess. They don't break apart like regular lima beans do in a slow cooker and have a really good texture. I have only fixed one batch (or mess as we say in the south) on the stove because I'm too lazy! I need to go out and pick them now but it is 97 degrees in the shade outside and high humidity! Heat index about 110! I'll wait till sundown!

My Bt availability is partly logistical. Working non-governmental charity with individual families never is a highly funded or scheduled program. Advance planning for raw materials procurement & storage is a problem. Customs regulations are a factor. Importation of large amounts of any ag item has major red tape. Parcel express service fees & the vulnerability to random impounding makes little sense when amount needed is theoretically going to weigh a lot. O.K., so please help me with some additional practical data on Bt. ? How much Bt is necessary for each determinate tomato plant for the entire span of the tomato's productive life ? Neem tree leaf & seed extracts have some caterpillar biological control action. Neem is a productive tree for us. I, personally, have not had an opportunity to trial it for hornworms. (Method so far is scout around among the toms regularly, looking for the gluttons' damage & hunt them down.) ? Anyone with experience in Neem extracts controling hornworm as being worthwhile? A blacklight night demonstration of finding hornworms would make help me make my bones as a wizard. Of course, a lot of villagers' fields are remote from their dwellings & they are superstitious that The Force is not with them at night.

Judy Jay Rhiannon is the name of a Celtic spirit and we got it from the Fleetwood mac song Rhiannon. It is pronounced Ree-an-non. DH and I were teachers at the time and that was one of the few names we could come up with that didn't bring up memories of other kids. Nicole, Peyton might look older but she is such a munchkin, she only weighs 25 pounds at 2 and a half. She is just a minature little munchkin. Wow, I love it! Really brightens and lightens things up. When I saw the before pic something triggered in my memory that I know this house, know this person. I had not looked at who posted but thought someone was copying auntjen or it was auntjen. And it is! Isn't it amazing how we can take something as simple as wall color and make all the things we love look that much better?! What I love about this home is that it is so personal yet done so well. Not everyone can pull of what she has.
