Whats cooking with your weather? Overcast today and it 29 right now. Probably the calm before the storm of snow that is to come in a few days. What's cooking in your kitchen? I have beef vegetable soup cooking for supper. I have decided not to put potatoes in mine, but microwave one when I want to eat it, that way I will freeze the leftover soup and not have nasty potatoes that have been frozen. Izzi had her homemade doggy cookie and as usual she hides it, then goes and gets it and eats part of it and hides it again. Silly girl. So, what is cocking at your house?

Blue skies and sun this morning, but it's only -1Âº right now. I'll finish up my split pea sooup for lunch, and maybe put another batch of soup of some kind on to cook. Love my soups!

Breezy, at least a total of 25"+ on the ground. Weatherman said we got freezing drizzle in the middle of the night. It's about 30Â° out there right now. I have chicken breasts topped with StoveTop Stuffing in the crockpot.

I made myself a calendar for Feb/Mar yesterday and put the number of days till spring on each of the days. Each morning I will cross off another day. 30 more to go!!! (I did this on how many days I had till retirement and found it to be a little help.)

If your stove has knobs, just pull off the knobs for the oven controls and stick them in a drawer. That's what I do for burners that I don't want used because I've got something on top of them. If it's digital, I suppose you could stick some electric tape over the control to remind you! :)

Karen, yes they sprouted on April 2 last year and the black metal grill and black plastic container I think speeds it up. They sprouted before the ones on a glass patio table but I forget by how much. The secret I learned from Trudi was place them in full sun. The year before I had them in part sun. They sprouted later that way... Trudi these are KBX again since I had so many saved seeds and KBX is one of my fave's. I also have a couple other containers not shown in the pic. I also plan on WSing a 56 cell flat of cosmos, zinnia and dahlia seeds next week after the big storm we are expecting Saturday. Oh those look great ! I have a couple kinds of apples and buttermilk so I think I will make them tomorrow. Looks like she has a lot of really nice recipes. Thanks for linking it. We are back to sunny days...but 40's at night. Will be mid 70's again next week. I posted on the Kitchen forum the pretty cookies that DH made...they are Italian and chocolate...what else can you ask for ??? DH made omlettes tonight with sauteed red onion and red bell pepper. He added cheddar and finished them under the broiler...they puff so nicely. I had some tomatillo sauce leftover so i heated that up and we spooned it over...oh wow...it was so yummy. I also made grits in the double boiler. Never have done that before. They take longer but are really creamy and no sticking and also no stirring. Had homemade Challah and homemade elderberry jam and that was that. c

We're having some friends in for dinner tonight. Made rouladen, red cabbage, spinach casserole and spaetzle for dinner. Just have to reheat. I have a beet salad prepared but have to assemble the last minute. I have my first loaf of crusty bread in the oven right now, second one waiting. Baked two apple strudels this morning, just finished "frosting" my Braunschweiger spread with cream cheese, have to run to the store now and buy some appetizer pumpernickel bread for my mushroom canapé's and have some marinated artichokes wrapped in ham for the other appetizer. A little cleaning to do (especially the kitchen!)

Foggy and chilly here. Monte Cristo's planned for tonight. Maybe some home made french fries.
