Karen, yes they sprouted on April 2 last year and the black metal grill and black plastic container I think speeds it up. They sprouted before the ones on a glass patio table but I forget by how much. The secret I learned from Trudi was place them in full sun. The year before I had them in part sun. They sprouted later that way... Trudi these are KBX again since I had so many saved seeds and KBX is one of my fave's. I also have a couple other containers not shown in the pic. I also plan on WSing a 56 cell flat of cosmos, zinnia and dahlia seeds next week after the big storm we are expecting Saturday. This will be my first year WSing annual flowers...:) If anyone is interested, here is the thread on the GW Tomato board where I compared WSing tomatoes vs. Traditional indoor starts: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/tomato/msg0415370714513.html

Thanks for the responses, friends. Hmmmm, I thought I saw something about if you put an oven below an induction cooktop, the oven would get even lower to the floor then a regular range because the induction cooktop has to have more space below it. I really don't even want a range as I've always had wall ovens and I like not having to stoop over to pull heavy things out of a hot oven. I've thought of doing cooktop over oven in this house only because the kitchen is small and it would give me more counter space.....i.e. not having a micro/oven combo taking up so much space. Also, where the cooktop/oven will be is very close to the kitchen table so not far to tote hot casseroles, etc. Are we getting a picture here...I'm LAZY! I do think I will definitely go with induction. What's the downside other then price? And this is probably the last house we're gonna put money into. Might as well have want I want. Funny to think that in my main home I have survived over the last 15 years with a 4 burner electric coil cooktop and a GE micro over plain jane oven. Guess this forum can be a blessing and a curse. Never knew what I had been missin, but sure as heck ain't gonna be sittin in the cheap seats with this remodel if I can possibly swing it. Posting layouts, pics of my proposed new kitchen is beyond me at this point...I am a computer idiot. I am going to work on that as I think the before I got, and the after I am hoping for could be very interesting. I will try to get some pics soon and post. Finally, could someone tell me a brand that has induction cooktop over an oven as an integrated unit? And as always, thank you new friends so very much.

Oh those look great ! I have a couple kinds of apples and buttermilk so I think I will make them tomorrow. Looks like she has a lot of really nice recipes. Thanks for linking it. We are back to sunny days...but 40's at night. Will be mid 70's again next week. I posted on the Kitchen forum the pretty cookies that DH made...they are Italian and chocolate...what else can you ask for ??? DH made omlettes tonight with sauteed red onion and red bell pepper. He added cheddar and finished them under the broiler...they puff so nicely. I had some tomatillo sauce leftover so i heated that up and we spooned it over...oh wow...it was so yummy. I also made grits in the double boiler. Never have done that before. They take longer but are really creamy and no sticking and also no stirring. Had homemade Challah and homemade elderberry jam and that was that. c

Breezy, at least a total of 25"+ on the ground. Weatherman said we got freezing drizzle in the middle of the night. It's about 30° out there right now. I have chicken breasts topped with StoveTop Stuffing in the crockpot. I made myself a calendar for Feb/Mar yesterday and put the number of days till spring on each of the days. Each morning I will cross off another day. 30 more to go!!! (I did this on how many days I had till retirement and found it to be a little help.) Shirley
