Well I had hoped to take a few new pics to post and announce her name at the same time. I tried a few favorite names out on her, and it seems the one 'she' likes best is Ginger (Ginger Snap when the situation calls for firmness.) She fetches, loves her ball and rolling it under the chair, and then going under the chair and playing with it there. She sleeps in her Pet Taxi, and settles down once she knows I too am in bed and settled down for the night. She stayed out the other night (was only in the 50's I think) and slept in the back of the truck in some mulch, along with 2 of the other girls. Little by little the other girl's are accepting her better and there is less growling. I'll keep you posted with pics as she grows up. golddust if you don't mind me saying, wait a bit longer. It's a huge role (and hole) to fill for a dog when you're grieving not only a wonderful pet but a contributing member of the household. Lots and lots of dogs can be trained to do what you want - few will know instinctively - you had one of those. But every dog can bring something to the table, so to speak, and you might fall in love with a new trait that you didn't know you needed. We trained our dog to stay within our yard boundaries in suburbia. We're only fenced along our driveway, the rest of the yard is open and he knows the lot corners. He'll keep deer out of the yard during the day but obviously at night when he's sleeping, unless he hears something, they forage. A deer sprinkler has been my best investment for that. Chipmunks have all been either 'dispatched' or 'encouraged' to move to neighbor's yards!! The doorbell or knocker sends him into a barking frenzy (he has a big mean bark) until we tell him 'quiet' but if we're not home, anyone on the other side of the door thinks he's going to come right through it - I like that security. maire cate we have a cattle dog mix - he's part Blue Heeler and part Chow of all things. When I look online at the characteristics of a heeler there's no way I'd pick one, to say nothing of the fact that personally, I don't find them to be particularly cute dogs! However, when I search the adoption sites I always check for heeler/cattle dog mixes and there are a lot, at least here in the midwest. They are wonderful dogs, sturdy, loving, loyal and intent on pleasing by doing a job. He never needs a leash for walks although I bring one just in case. He's good with kids and most other dogs although if he see's a German Shepherd he freezes at my side since one attacked him and pinned his neck to the ground last year. If my DH hadn't been there he would have killed our dog. Mix a cattle dog with something else and you get a cute dog, at least I think Cajun's cute ;-) The wideset ears are a dead give away for heelers - you can see them coming from a long way off. This is his favorite vantage point - he can see anyone coming up the drive, passing by on the sidewalk and can still keep an eye on most of the backyard.

Amber's Jack Russell has seizures and they are pretty frequent. He has been to Purdue for treatment and to so many vet's. He is on I think 3 medications and an herbal something she got from the vet. The herbal stuff has helped but he may have a seizure once a week. You never know when it will happen. It is bad to see and I have seen him have terrible ones and one right after another. I have held him while he was having them and we are hurrying to the vet's. Sometimes it is weather related, like a storm moving in. Your little Gracie is so sweet I wish the best for her. Sue

I don't think that Magnum and Juliet work at all as a couple. I'm glad I missed the season finale because that would have been painful for me to watch. I really like Private Eyes and was rather glad that they made a couple on the series finale. You knew that would be an interesting relationship and that both characters would bring something to the relationship. It was a well developed relationship that grew through the run of the series. They also knew the series was ending and so could bring it to a close. The problem with Hudson and Sarah I find is that Sarah is portrayed as a bit of a weak character and as you say is doe-eyed. I hate it when writers do that to women. Oh and I do have a life besides analyzing TV couples. LOL
