My soap dispenser leaked

My soap dispenser is about 15 years old. I think it's a grohe because that's the brand faucet I have. While filling it, it suddenly sprung a leak all over under the sink. The one problem I have had with this one over the years is that it tended to clog periodically. I had to insert a very thin wire into the spigot and wiggle it around to clear the clog. I also needed to prime the pump more times than I thought I should have to when it was running low on liquid. So I'd like to get one that does not have these particular problems. It will be installed into a SS sink, which means it will have to be of chrome finish (real or fake). Another issue, the pump and bottle mechanism that's located under the sink will be behind a bulky food waste disposer, which means it will be hard to remove the old one and replace it. (I hope it can be done without removing the disposer.)

Any recommendations would be appreciated, especially comments from someone with a similar installation problem.

Hi, After a couple of broken dispensers, someone (can't remember who) told us to dilute the soap with water. So we did. Since then, our dispenser has performed flawlessly, no clogs, and we haven't had to replace it.

Is the leak in the plastic hosing? If so, you may not have to replace the whole thing. Look into the NeverMT...it has it's own hose and the hose snakes down to the floor of the cabinet into a soap refill bottle of the soap of your choice...the bigger the better! The NeverMT is only $7.95 + S&H and they are offering "Buy 3 Get 1 Free".

The NeverMT would make refilling much easier and much less frequent. To refill, just replace the bottle of soap that sits on the bottom of your cabinet...probably under your GD.

To address the clogging issue, try diluting the soap some, as Westsider40 suggested.

I have replaced the Blanco Empressa dispenser 3x and each one starts leaking after a few months. I dilute the Dawn dish soap as instructed by Blanco but it's still leaking. Fighting for a refund from Blanco so I can replace with a different dispenser. My last house had a Kohler soap dispenser and I moved after 23 years and it never leaked!

I also had this problem with 2 Blanco dispensers. I called them and they sent replacement pump mechanisms. This did not work any better, so I called again. They told me I need to dilute the "ultra" detergent I was using to about 50-50, and this finally did the trick. The better dishwashing detergents are now being made so thick that they can't go through the opening (which on more expensive dispensers tends to be small). I tried to fix it by adding hot water through the top opening of the bottle then stirring with the plastic bottom "straw" part. This still did not work well, so I had to dismantle the whole thing, dump out the old detergent, then refill it with the diluted mix. I was rather annoyed that I had problems with such expensive dispensers so I looked at some others that I knew worked well. The main difference seemed to be that the hole opening of the less expensive dispensers was a much larger diameter.

One thought on your decision is if the Blanco has a colander etc which you place on the right side of the sink, then perhaps reverse the soap dispenser to the left side. But yes, they drilled my holes all in a row, separated by chosen distances. If the hole size for the hot water dispenser and the soap dispenser are the same, you can always change them out. Don't let the plumbers use plumbers putty on installation of the sink flange or drain. Blanco recommends clear silicone for its Silgranit. Counter tops which etch shouldn't have plumbers putty either as it may etch from it I understand. Sorry, no pictures yet. Excited for you: countertops let you know you're half way there.
