Service Codes for Bosch 500 plus series

I have a one year old 500 plus series waher and dryer. We have a reocurring problem with the washer that happens about once every 20 loads or so. It's like the spin cycle doesn't complete spinning as the clothes end up still quite wet. I'm looking for the service manual so I can manually put this into the spin mode when this happens. I read in other posting that you might be willing to share the manual you have. As Bosch seems to not want to make their customers happy by making that information available to those, who have paid big money for their product. I find it an outrage... your help would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail is prbrady2@comcast.net.. thanks again

I'm not sure which 500 series you have, but if you select the "additional documents" menu option, it should take you to a screen where you can download the user manual.

The user guide does not contain any of the service codes. I need to find the actual service manual. Any thoughts on that would be greatly appreciated.

Hay guys (sorry I have a teenage kid - I pick this kind of stuff up from him) I'm looking to add a Bosch washer to my LR. Now that Best Buy (shudder) isn't the only vendor I'm putting them on my interest list. I'll post about my leaking Danby later, after it gets fixed. Second leak, FYI. Somewhere during my insomniac surfing I saw a post that says the 300 heater does NOT maintain temp throughout the wash, but the 500 does. Of course now I can't find it so I'm asking for confirmation or not. Any other differences in these machines (across the whole Bosch line, not jus the 300/500) that one can't get from reading the online user guide/manual? Also I can't seem to download the 300 user manual - I can get the 500, DLX, 700 and Platinum, go figure - so if someone has a link, couldja share please? I'll probably get a 500 (love dross's 'sweet spot') but I just want to look at the options. Gotta tell ya I'm spoiled with my Danby - flick of the dial and I can change temps for any cycle, no muss or fuss, and since its a dial I have infinite variations. I digress. Also since I just seemed to miss one of their (many) rebates which ended 3/31, any idea when Bosch will roll the next one out? Thanks. I'll update my Danby at the three year bday mark in late May.

You don't have very much information here to give you a better diagnosis, like the model or the error code, but I'll take a shot at it. After all it's Good Friday. If you're thinking that the flashing list filter light is the error code you can relax. The lint filter light ALWAYS flashes at the end of a cycle or before you hit the start button to begin a cycle. This is just a reminder to check the filter. If your dyer is displaying an E:01 code this indicates blockage in the venting system. Do the simple thing 1st. wash your lint filter with some dish soap and running water, lightly scrubbing it with your finger tips. After rinsing clean pat the filter dry and re install it in the dryer. While you have the filter out look down in the filter holder area and see if you have lint built up there. They make brushes for cleaning this area or you can use a vacuum cleaner attachment to reach in there and suck out the lint. If you still have an E:01 error after doing all this you may need to have your house vent pipe cleaned. But before you do this check your vent hood where the dyer vent exhausts out of the house. If it's obstructed you found your problem. I hope this helps. Jakvis

hmmm....very interesting thread. I have knocking problems that have just started with my new 7 1/2 week old Bosch 500 Nexxt also. But I'm not to sure if it was caused by a uneducated repair guy or what. I had vibration problems, when I first got it and waited 5 1/2 weeks for the ding dong repair guy to order the right amount of legs (I guess he can't count) when he put them on he used a 5" block of wood to tilt the the machine back then forward to install the new legs. I should mention that the repair guy called Bosch tech who told him to order & install the new feet that that should solve the problem. After he left the vibrations seemed worse and the knocking started. The knocking noise happens when it's ramping up and braking to slow down. Also seemed to me it was having more troubles than usual balancing before spinning. So, I called Bosch asked them if these issues could have happened from the repair guy titling the machine without re-installing the shipping bolts. Bosch said, yes it could be possible and suggested I called a different repair shop. So, I call another repair shop, this guy knows what he's doing finally, he discovers that one of the struts is worn out, bad and needs replaced. The machine is only 6 weeks old!!!!! I wait another 1 1/2 weeks for the new struts he put them on yesterday and it is still knocking, the struts didn't fix the problem. The repair guy says that he isn't to sure what it would be but it is definetly not normal. He did call Bosch later and Bosch told him that the knocking is probably due to the rubber feet, which Bosch originally said would take care of the vibration problems. I have a hard time believing it is because of the feet, I called Lowes told them the whole story, they ordered me a new machine which will be delivered next week. I have had this machine for 7 1/2 weeks it has never operated properly. It does concern me that the struts went out within 6 weeks, there are only 2 of us so I don't do much laundry so there is no way I could have worn those out that soon. I haven't given up hope yet, before the struts going out and the knocking noise, even if I was having vibrations issues, I really do like the machine. I'm just hoping that it is a "lemon" and the new machine will be fine. Oh, I forgot to mention that the first repair guy noticed when he was putting on the new feet that the back legs weren't tighten down by the Lowes delivery guys. Maybe that was the cause of the vibration problem to begin with. Wonder if vibration could do enough damage shaking to make the struts go out and the knocking since a few of us have experienced the same problems? I don't want to make it sound like Bosch is bad, there are many many people on this forum that are very happy Bosch owners, thats why I choose Bosch in the first place. I'm still hoping that I can be a happy Bosch owner also. Maybe the new 500 had a few kinks in them that didn't get worked out?

I could be that the machine has become unlevel, ie the rubber feet have worn out, shock absorbers also wear out over time. You can also try unplugging the machine for 10 minutes. This resets the control board and then when you use it the first time the control board relearns proper balancing based on signals from the tach, this is called adaptive learning which is also used in the computers that run most modern cars. Big pairs of pants can be hard for any machine to balance as they can twist up in the drum. Try to load with multiples of 2 for pants, and towels, ie 2 pants, 4 pants, 6pants etc, it makes it a more balanced load. I doubt the shocks would be worn a 1 year, they usually go out between 3 and 5 years of use. Hope this is of some help.

Based on the information you provided ( about once every 20 loads or so. It's like the spin cycle doesn't complete spinning as the clothes end up still quite wet ) It's more likely you have a balance issue with the load.
A Bosch washer will try to spin a load but tests the balance of the load first at low speed. If the balance isn't right it stops, redistributes the clothes and trys again. If the load is still unbalanced it will stop again and try to redistribute the clothes. It will try to balance up to 14 times. It it does balance the clothes it will spin out the load. It it can't balance the clothes the washer will only spin at around 100 RPM and the clothes will still be wet at the end.

Most out of balance is due to someone adding something like a heavy towel or like to a load of light weight clothes like shirts. Or someone is trying to wash a single heavy item. A washer can't balance this type of load.

You don't need the codes for this. just check the load type when you pull out the wet clothes.

thank you jakvis.. it sounds like you know what you speak. For what you say it does sound like having codes would not be of help in this case. However, having access to the service manual including the codes should not be restricted to owners of the equipment. For Bosch to refuse to allow owners of these washers (or any of their products)to have the service manual details is wrong. For those who have the ability to make their own repairs should be allowed to. Forcing owners to have to use repair service organizations is just wrong.

It's not that the manufacturers are forcing people to use authorized repair agents. It's really that people have gotten sue happy in the USA.
There are lawsuits where a customer accessed repair manuals hurt themselves somehow and sued the manufacturer for allowing them to have the manual. All because in their mind it was the manufactures fault that they didn't follow basic service safety rules.
I know an auto mechanic that was sued because he let a friend borrow a service manual. The friend was hurt and the family sued under the guise that the friend would have never attempted the repair if he wasn't allowed to borrow the manual.
This is why almost all the manufacturers have locked down their service websites. Even Whirlpool has finally locked their site.
It's a crazy world out there and I won't let anybody borrow my manuals and this is on the advise of my insurance agent.
If the laws change to force people have personal responsibility for their own actions I'll change my mind and let people borrow my books but until then it t's ain't gonna happen. I love my business and house too much.

Thank you Jakvis, I can appreciate your thoughts and your position on this issue. I agree manufactures need to cover their butts. However, there are legal ways around this issue as well. A strongly worded release form can resolve this.
