Accent color with Revere Pewter walls...

Hello everyone! I am looking for a BM color to paint on a dresser that will sit below our TV in our "media room". The walls are Revere Pewter. The room has wood floors (Jacobean), a large dark leather sectional (with tons of gray, taupe, and off-white decorative pillows), and a coffee table that is dark wood on the base with a brown/black/gray marble top. I started painting the dresser in BM Chelsea Gray last night but now think it may not be dark enough (not enough contrast with the walls.) Thought I should see what you all think about the Chelsea Gray or whether you had a better suggestion. Thanks!

I have Revere Pewter on my MBR walls and painted my TV stand Iron Mountain (hm, I think that was the name). It works really well with the Revere Pewter.

this may be too dark/same as your coffee table, but I did my utility room/half-bath with Revere Pewter and used BM Black Bean Soup on the cabinets. The BBS has a little of a purplish undertone that goes beautifully with the RP.

I had, and have, no pink anywhere, either. The colors in that library were all greens and terracottas and sisal and medium and dark toned woods...so the important thing was to keep it very peachy. The effect was to warm the neutrality of the gray. If you were to choose a blue, you might find the effect colder than you like. If you wanted to stay with the warm idea, but are a little put off by the pink idea, there's also a nice color adjacent to Melon Tint called French Vanilla (SW 7118) that is a little yellower, but still peachy. Whatever you decide, try to make sure you are choosing a tone that is light reflective rather than light absorbing...and be sure to look at your sample board -- you will make a sample board, won't you... :>) -- in the plane in which it will live...that is, stuck to the ceiling beside the trim. You want to avoid what my DH calls the V.A. Hospital effect, when a soft neutral appears in an unhelpful light condition. End of lecture!

You know, if you work with Aura colors, the initial PR on them was that they share a particular tone (iirc it's something about the kind of colorant, but someone like funcolors would know more about that) which coordinates them such that they'll all work with each other, supposedly. The game was to pick any three colors from the deck and you'd be able to make a look with them. That's why they were called "Affinity" colors. You might want to look for tones you like in that set of colors and know that they're 'scientifically' designed to be able to play well together. Hope this maybe helps you become less dazed and confused...

Hi I have used Rockport Grey (HC-105) beside Revere Pewter and I think they go together really well. A really nice lighter colour that ties together is pale oak(OC-20). The rockport grey has a green undertone to my eye and I really like it. I have these two colours in adjoining rooms and they look great without having a jarring difference between the two. I know it looks really dark in the picture of the chips attached but have a look and see if it might work for you.

Funny, because we are in the process of picking paint for our soon to be finished basement. I picked Revere Pewter w/Chelsea Gray on one accent wall.

I know homeagain has posted pics of her Chelsea Gray home office and Revere Pewter in foyer -- they look nice together in her pics.

I was also considering Ashley Gray on accent wall (more brown, though). So, I'm interested in opinions, too.

Thanks for the shout out hopmom!

I have Revere Pewter in my Foyer. Chelsea gray in my study, Iron Mountain in the Dining Room and have finally decided on Rockport Gray for the family room.

I'll see if I can get a pic showing the various colors with RP.

Those colors are so pretty. Revere Pewter is actually quite dark in our media room b/c it doesn't get much light and we don't have tons of artificial lighting in it. Perhaps when I put a second coat of Chelsea Gray on it will look darker than it is now. I have a small can of Kendall Charcoal and may use it. I hadn't thought about it until it was mentioned above.

I painted the bump-out above my fireplace Kendall Charcoal, and it looks great with my Revere walls. It is quite dark if that's what you're looking for.
