Help bash my landscaping (new home w/ pics)
Comments (62)It's a vast improvement over the shrub-engulfed house we first saw, merely by being cleaned up. One thing that jumps out to me as not enough, is the groundcover, which are few and far apart. The goal is usually to get groundcover to grow into a solid mass for the best look and so as not to need top dressing with mulch anymore and still have weed suppression. But I imagine you'll be doing some tweaking over the next year. As far as watering, it's hard for someone, by remote, to tell you if you've watered long enough. There are a lot of variables in how you might be doing it and with what equipment. If in doubt, dig down and see. It won't take you long to discover the right timing formula....See MoreHelp! Comments (2)You should post your message on the Gardenweb's Laundry Forum, where you'll get lots of responses. While it's simplistic to say this, have you checked that the machines are level? Out-of-level is the most common reason for washer/dryer excess vibration. The appliances will have adjustable screw-in feet underneath to bring them level. You can check whether the machines are level with a bubble level found at any hardware store or Home Depot. Also, putting down plywood under washers is fairly common, and not a big deal, but I don't know that you'd need to cut out the laminate flooring. You can put down the plywood over the flooring, check that the plywood is level and correct where it is not level by inserting shims, then put back the washer and dryer, readjusting the screw-in feet to again keep them level. Comments (14)Sorry but : "The tech had to take apart the entire machine (removing the top panel, front panel and drum) to get to the inside. There he found that, instead of the broken belt we thought we would find, the idler pulley clip fell off which resulted in a loss of tension of the belt. " is not a good sign. This combined with the other complaints about the Electrolux washers is what I am talking about. The bad things I have read about Miele: 1. In their normal cycle they do not turn on the heater to meet the energy efficiency guidelines(although there are 17 other programs to choose from...) 2. When the machine was first released the latch on the washer would "sag" over time. A fix was released for this. 3. There is a firmware upgrade for the dryer that Miele has released I would say the same standard does apply. I own an Electrolux oven(love it!) and an induction top (don't really love it...bad bad bad design)...also own a panasonic MW, Kitchenaid fridge...thus, I'm not brand loyal but the Miele is in another class IMHO, although their price is as well......See Moremy W/D is in the garage...give me some ideas to make me excited
Comments (9)thanks mountaineergirl! (your name is pretty cool, too!) I am in South Fl...so never freezing....but soooo hot and sticky in the summer...and opening up a hot dryer in the sweaty garage is just such a gross feeling. We can't close the W/D in at this time...and no, there is NOWHERE in the house to put them. I guess I am just looking for some organizing/decorationg ideas...like shelving, maybe some decorative stuff on the walls...just something to make it look pretty plus be organized. I see there is a thread about the laundry room in the basement...I think I'll check that out now. Thanks again for the reply!...See Moreweedmeister
