LG washer WM2016CW reqd replacement of spider...spider is the suppprt arm that holds the tumble stainless drum built in with shaft assy..if u can replace brake pads and spark plug then u can don this washing machine..if it makes a lot of noise or smokes during high speed spin..possible bearing or spider..So I open up then the inner and outer bearing and seal are all in good shape except cracked spider arm...the spider is the one that cracked....the outcome of dirt on spider arm is so bad even we are cleaning every 5 times of use.. but anyways I did replaced shaft seal and gasket for the tumble drum, spider and bolts ..expenses is 95.50 US and heavy cleaning like new..front loading is not really recommended. .better to buy top loading.I am going to explain this later....all of front loading design have the same principle..every brand of washing machine will last for 25 yrs if they can supply parts, so easy to fix and very basic..front loading use less water ..this is one of the reason why the spider arm gets dirty so easy..not like top loading always soak with water...

Browsing through old posts and found this and had to reply. We bought our Kenmore Elite Oasis set in April 2006. The dryer was the first to need repair. They replaced the control board. Dryer has never broken since though it doesn't sense small loads correctly and they will be damp after the dryer finishes. The washer -- ugh. I can't recall the order but it's been repaired (ie we paid for the year long warranty 3x) for faulty control board, hinge snapped (rust and it did rust/fail again but wasn't worth fixing because it'd just do it again), faulty control board that locked my laundry in a wet tub for three weeks before the technician could get out and fix, and for the past six months it's been throwing the uL until finally no amount of begging, coaxing and pleading could get a cycle to finish. My husband has opened it up a few times trying to avoid calling the repairman because at this point we were fed up. We've had to repair these machines just about yearly since purchasing. Sears has refused to do anything but charge us for repairs or buy another year long warranty. That machine has so much rust throughout the insides I was shocked. The washers are absolute junk. Terrible design and Sears did nothing to make it right with those of us that were unfortunate enough to trust in their product and purchase one. We will *never* buy another Kenmore product just because of how terrible their service has become. I can understand they goofed and had a miserable design. It didn't get tested enough before release. But there was no attempt at making it right with their customers. I called before we decided to junk this machine and all they wanted to do was charge another $230 for another year warranty. That would've put our total repair costs in the $600 range. FWIW, we do know that it's an actual whirlpool product marketed and sold under the Kenmore name. Which is why I couldn't bring myself to even look at any whirlpool washers. I had my list down to two choices -- Electrolux and Samsung and opted for the Samsung because it offered more choices for less money. We are also far wiser...we not only bought a 4 yr extended warranty but I'm fully prepared to have to replace it in 5-6 years. We didn't purchase from Sears either. :P

Hi All I just bought an Bosch WTV76100US. This is the "new" axxis model. It has been a nightmare. The washer is great. The dryer barely gets above room temperature and leaves everything WET, not damp. Bosch is completely useless in the customer service department. They can't do anything other than reiterate the marketing mumbo jumbo. They only can offer to send someone out, but not actually answer any questions. They claim it's not supposed to get hot and supposed to leave clothes with 3% moisture. It's physically impossible to do that in a humid climate if the temp only gets up to 80 degrees during the cycle. They apparently think we are all dazzled by all the "super advanced" jargon and don't realize that our clothes are still wet. I've had it replaced once. The first unit I had had a wire disconnected and the heater didn't work. The second one seems just as bad. Has anyone figured this thing out? I am concluding it's really nothing other than a $700 box fan that runs on 240 V, except the Box fan would do a better job of drying. Does anyone know anything?

Kathleen Cirucci, all electric and gas dryers have those vents/grills in the drum. One is the heat input source which must be sturdy to handle the hot air coming into the drum from the gas burner or electric heating element. The other is the outflow which isn't directly exposed to the element/burner heat. The machine's blower/fan is below the outflow grill. It pulls air through the outflow grill which in turn pulls air through the heat grill which is connected via a duct to the heater box (electric element or gas burner) outside the drum. Airflow is pulled in through the heater box ---> heat input grill ---> tumbling clothes ---> outflow grill ---> filter ---> [blower] and pushed out through ---> exhaust duct at back of the dryer.
