Maytag Bravos - how full can I fill?
Comments (1)The machine did what it's designed to do. sounds like you initially followed loading guidelines faily well. Clothes compact down half way..does not give you license to add more, unlesss you want to overstuff the machine and suject laundry to damage and also extremely poor cleaning. Leave as is....See MoreMaytag Bravos Washer/Dryer
Comments (41)It's actually Whirlpool's patented "Catalyst" system. What happens is at the beginning of the wash cycle the washer adds just enough water to mix with the detergent to create a super high concentrated mix. Then the washer spins the clothes at a few hundred rpm to plaster them against the side of the wash tub, and then pumps and sprays the detergent concentration mixture onto the clothes from the inside. What happens then is the detergent mixture is then extruded through the clothes by centrifugal force from the spinning wash tub. When water & detergent get through the clothes they drain into the bottom of the outer wash tub, and then get pumped and sprayed again. It's Whirlpool's way of getting super concentrated detergent into the clothes before the washer has to fill up with enough water to float the clothes. It's a very effective cleaning method on soils and stains that respond best to the chemical action of detergent....See MoreFP Aquasmart or Maytag Bravo?
Comments (46)helenbr, I am the grateful owner of a Maytag Bravos - not the current 800 series, but the 6700 model (and 6400 dryer, non-steam). Cynic and I will have to agree to disagree, because I really do think the Bravos is better than the Cabrio and Oasis. My opinion is based on three main sources: 1) people I know, both IRL and online who've owned them; 2) appliance repairmen; and 3) Consumer Reports and other online sources. Maytags are now built with commercial parts so perhaps that makes a difference. All I know is, I've read and heard many more complaints from Cabrio/Oasis owners than I have from Bravos owners. I've had my Bravos pair for almost a year, and I do recommend them. I studied my washer manual thoroughly before using it for the first time because I had always owned conventional TL's and wanted to be sure I used it properly. Thus far, I've had ZERO problems. I love the huge capacity, I love being able to wash virtually everything in my house w/o having to go to a laundromat, I love it that I can now wash 3-5 loads of laundry a week whereas I used to wash 10-12 loads per week (big family). I haven't had ANY problems with wrinkling/tangling, mold/mildew (which is common in FL washers), etc. It does seem to me that the Bravos is built more solidly than the FP washers, plus they look small to me. I bought my Bravos set at Home Depot. Have you checked websites online to save you a lot of driving? I checked Lowe's, Sears, HD, and other websites to compare prices, warranty info, delivery info, etc, before I decided where to buy. Another advantage of checking their websites is being able to read the reviews which were written by owners. HTH! :-)...See MorePurchased a new washer - Maytag Bravos XL steam MVWB755DW
Comments (14)Perhaps that is why we haven't run into any problems. I watched videos on how to use the HE TLs and downloaded the user guide onto my phone before even buying the machine. 45 minute drive home, so plenty of time to read though it and the installation guide before we ever even unloaded it. I think reading the reviews and really paying attention to the negatives was key as well - we knew what not to do or what to figure out the proper way to do. Piling clothes in loose heaps with nothing in the middle seemed to be key. Like I say, we've done quite the variety of loads and haven't had a single problem. And I don't necessarily sort. Room in the load and I have one dirty towel - throw it in, too! Jeans with undies and dress shirt - the more the merrier! I'm going to load it properly, use the correct amount of detergent, set the machine right, and then I am not going to mess with it again until the load is done. So far, this machine is letting me do that just fine. (Doing a soak or pre-rinse is excluded - I don't mind that type of 2-step process.)...See Morecorky1_2008 Harris
