Is Speed Queen best choice for longevity??

Hi everyone,

Our Maytag Neptune washer just bit the dust at 6 years old (bearings and both control panels went out in a matter of two months and the parts alone would cost $900 to try and fix it), and unfortunately it's a factory stacked unit which means we need a new dryer as well.

So, in looking for something to replace it, my absolute priority is longevity. I do NOT want to have to replace my washer every 6 years.

In most of the posts I've read so far about well built, long-lasting machines people have recommended the Miele. However, a Miele is not an option for us - both because of cost and because our space limits us to a stackable unit and our set up is for a gas dryer. And Miele does not sell a stackable gas dryer in the US.

So I'm looking for the next best option. I'm currently leaning toward the Speed Queen AFN50F washer and the Speed Queen ADG4BF dryer - which can be stacked but are two separate units so I don't have to throw both of them out if one of them breaks.

Does anyone out there think there's a better choice?

Thanks for your help!
