Has anyone ordered from Grandinroad or Home Decorators catalogs?
Comments (24)I was hoping to find a sofa quickly for my daughter, who moved into her first apartment couchless. Before ordering the Ava, I called Grandin Road to ask about availability and was told that the blue sofa was in stock and would be the quickest to ship. Once I placed the order, I was given a delivery window of December 6-13. Each time I checked the order status the estimated delivery date was postponed. I called customer service to ask about the order status and, each time, was told the sofa would ship out that day. However, the order status continued to show as "in process" with a new delayed delivery date. I then found a sofa locally that was in stock and available to deliver the same day, so I used the Grandin road chat feature to cancel the order. The chat agent said they would email the warehouse about the cancellation. The next day, the order status still showed as "in process" with a new delayed delivery date. I then called Grandin road to cancel the order again with the same results. After canceling by phone the second time, I received a text message saying my order had shipped. I emailed Grandin road to let them know I had canceled the order, and the next day they charged my credit card for the sofa I had canceled four times. When I asked for a refund, I was told they would request one, but it could take a few weeks. Thankfully my credit card company was willing to reverse the charge, as I don't have confidence that grandin road would have handled the refund any better than they handled the order or cancelation. I am also relieved not to own a product from them. I recommend something other than Grandin road....See MoreHas anyone repurposed sinks?
Comments (6)Yes! We have just such a sink (although a single-drain-board type) on the back of our garage to serve as a potting sink/plant hardening off area. It used to have water available from the nearby creek(which has quit running) but now I just use the water hose only eight feet away. It's wonderful! Several friends who saw our setup have duplicated it. Now if I could only keep DH from parking power tools, gas cans, excess parts, etc., there, it could be truly enjoyed. How is it that most spaces I consider mine, become his?...See MoreRepurposed TV Armoires, anyone?
Comments (17)My answer may seem very morbid, but this is my life now. My fiance and I were both widowed in our 40's, and he moved to my home from out of state ... bringing a nice wall mount TV with him. We repurposed my armoire, one my late husband and I picked out together, as a place to display his late wife's urn, and my late husband's urn. We also have two pictures, of us with our late spouses. It's in a corner of the living room, and most visitors wouldn't know what the urns are, they look decorative. But for us, it's a way to keep our loved ones close. The picture above it, to the left, was painted by one of his late wife's relatives, I really treasure it. Bad cell phone pic:...See MoreHas anyone had a pre-listing inspection on their home?
Comments (17)The purpose of the pre inspection is to find the major items that need repaired and then to repair them! So, there will be nothing to disclose. Most items on any report are small maintenance items, that do not need to be disclosed anyway. Why would a seller want to hand over leverage to the buyer by not knowing what they are offering? The buyer will either ask for the repair anyhow, or ask for a price reduction three times the actual repair amount. Do the major repairs under your time schedule, with your preferred contractors. It will save you money, misunderstandings, and stress. Also, a seller does not have to disclose anything to EVERY buyer. Here, the seller has three days after the contract is executed to get the disclosure over to the other side. Of course, the buyer has the option to terminate the contract once they do receive the disclosure....See Moreluckygal
