Catalog: Roots & Rhizomes - anyone ordered from them?
Comments (26)I'm always sorry to hear about bad mailorder experiences. I hope everyone was successful in getting their money back or at least getting a replacement that grew. But I'm not ready to give up on Roots & Rhizomes. As long as I get what I pay for I'm happy. By this I mean I'm willing to nurse a smaller cheaper plant along for a year or two if it means I can buy more varieties than I would have otherwise been able to afford. And in my opinion R&R has more of the plant varieties I want (I'm thinking of their siberian iris selections in particular... these are newer harder to find varieties that haven't made it over to Bluestone yet). ps. I also ordered those phlox from Jungs..... needless to say I was calling for replacements....See MoreHas anyone received Johnny's catalog yet?
Comments (6)Merry Christmas from me too! I got my Johnny's catalog as well but haven't had time to look at it. Two parties over 3 days and all. I love to grow peppers too. I have better luck with them than tomatoes. Unfortunately, I made a decision that my 2006 vegetable garden will be seriously downsized. We had an addition built (actually the size of our house doubled)and will be doing all the finish work ourselves. Because of the excavation work, I had to move a lot of my perennial garden--which gave me the idea to rework the entire garden into something new (except the vegetable raised beds). So all the perennials are being moved to a new garden in front of addition (which still needs major excavation work and paving) and I will be installing a rose garden in their place. I am crossing my fingers that the excavators get to work as soon as the ground thaws come spring, so I can get to work moving plants. With all this on my plate, and coming to the determination that the vegetable garden takes up the majority of my time spring and summer (sowing seeds, weeding, watering, fighting pests, harvesting, etc.), I need to scale back. Otherwise I will drive myself crazy. I plan on using a few of my raised beds for easy crops like lettuce, bush beans, etc. But the rest will be sowed with alfalfa. Hopefully the new gardens will be complete by 2007 and I can resume filling all 18 raised beds with vegetables....See MoreHas anyone had any experience ordering from Roots & Rhizomes?
Comments (16)Yes, I’ve ordered from them 5 yrs. The lovely Daylilies are always true to what you selected, and the clumps are large and healthy. Not one of them has failed to thrive. Actually the neighbors and dog walkers always stop at my house to admire the 30 some lilies that reliably bloom every summer. They’re so healthy, I have to give away babies. I also purchased Veronica, and I have to cut it back to get sun to shorter plants. I don’t know about customer service, because I have never needed to contact them. Perhaps the negative reviews are due to operater error....See MoreHas anyone ordered from Burgess Seed & Plant Co.?
