I think you don't see the water at the bottom with towels. Try something else and lighter like cotton t shirts.

I don't ever see water on the window of my duet... have seen suds a few times when the correct amount of detergent wasn't used though LOL

I am running a load of towels right now and I do see some water splashing a bit but nothing much. I see absolutely NO suds whatsoever.

I imagine your washer is working correctly. Home FL aren't like commercial laundry machines where half the window is covered with water.

There's nothing wrong with your machine. Trust it to do what it's engineered to do. :-)

Thanks guys!! I knew that it wouldn't have alot of water in it but I was expecting to see at least an inch of water at the bottom. The clothes came out clean so I'm very happy. I didn't want to keep running the machine if it wasn't working correctly. Thanks for the reassurance.

Personally, I don't think there is anything you can do to hurt the Duet... except run a load with a pocketful of BBs. I have washed EVERYTHING in mine and it keeps working like a dream.

I hope you are as happy with yours and we are with ours! We have definitely gotten our money's worth out of ours... with the savings on water and energy and supplies plus the time it has saved me by not having to do as much laundry!!

Here is info I retrieved from a Whirlpool technical website, specifically for the Duet washers, which is taught to Whirlpool and appliance repair technicians regarding problems or issues that customers may have with their Duet washers:

Not enough water?
This is normal. This washer is a low water usage system. Water should not be as visible as it was in your conventional deep fill washer. The amount of water varies by cycle and load size to give the proper care to each load.

To test for the proper water level:
- Verify machine is properly leveled
- Verify machine is empty
- Select the normal cycle and press start
- Allow the washer to fill normally (may take serveral minutes)
- When the washer stops filling, press the Pause/Cancel button
- Wait for door to unlock
- Open door and rotate inner drum until one of the three plastic baffles is at the lowest 6 o'clock position
- With baffle in this position, approximately 1/2 inch will remain above the water level (it will not be completely submerged)
- If water level is not at the described level in the washer, contact service.

Not enough suds?
This is normal. This high efficiency washer requires the use of HE detergent. HE detergent is a low sudsing detergent and therefore suds should not be as visible as with regular detergent.

As I stated earlier, the above info is from a valid technical document that the Whirlpool or appliance repair service folks are taught regarding the water level and sudsing issue in the Duet.
Hopefully, this will answer your and others questions about the correct water level during your wash cycles in the Duet.

Yes, both for my HE5t and prior W4800 and W4840 all used about the same amount of water for wash/rinse. Just the new direction all manufacturer seemed to be doing. I had noticed the different level like you. I finally figured it was combination of load size and clothes absorbency- not the machines. I had actually noticed it first while playing with the Miele firmware options. I would change something thinking I had gotten more water level later to find out nothing had changed. Very confusing for awhile.

As a side note, one good thing for the wash you really do not have to use much detergent to get a strong solution. Not so happy about the rinse quality in general, however.

Also, you will never get a door leak. On the Miele's for a rinse cycles, I could via service panel override "water set to max" get it up to the lower glass door. I never could find anything between the normal low lever and the max. But at least it was an option. But this was also kind of scary. I could pull slightly on the door and water would leak. Perhaps not an issue, but the old Bosch, while not built like a submarine door, was a lot more positive in it lock for its high water levels.

BTW, does anyone know if the HE5t has a service firmware access with any hidden functions like the Miele?
