Fun purchasing a new LG washer and dryer.....long
Comments (7)Well, my new stackable W/D was delivered this morning. The dryer has a dent on the side that we didn't notice until the installers had it stacked. It was a pain to get hooked up as the space is very shallow, but it really fits in well and gives me room on the other side of my laundry sink for shelving now. When I used the washer though, it was making this horrible metal on ,metal thumbing sound. The drivers had just left, but heard it over the phone and said it sounded as if I had gotten a machine that they tested in the warehouse, where they sometimes forget to disconnect the shipping bolts before testing. they don't like to disconnect and then reconnect them. My new new new washer is being delivered tomorrow morning. the poor delivery guys now have to uninstall all of the machines and redo everything. The machines do work beautifully though. I can do 2 loads of wash in the time it would normally take me to do one very small one. I really think I made a good choice in going to a front loader. Even with a semi broken washer, the clothes look cleaner and take less than half the time to dry. Everything I put in the washer I can put in one dryer load. No more splitting up loads to fit in the dryer. I know it won't pay for itself in money as they were much more expensive than regular top loaders, but they will pay for themselves in time. I will be doing half the loads I normally do. I really don't see a real steep learning curve either. The quick start card that is laminated is very easy to understand and the manual gives many helpful hints. Customer service was also very easy to reach. Hope all goes well from now on....See MoreJust purchased new LG WM3677HW Combo Washer/Dryer (mini-review)
Comments (4)If my research is correct, the control board is part number 6871ER1003E. Google search finds a seller on Amazon.com (if legitimate) that has a small supply of them. There are also two board repair services that may (or may not) handle them. Neither one lists the board by number but both of them may handle boards that they don't list. Comments (14)I was on a similar quest for a washing machine and after reading Consumer Reports and reviews in this forum and talking to everyone with a new washer and looking at the models, their features and how there were made I selected the FL Bosch 500 washer in May. It is well-built with higher quality door, top, gasket, than the others I viewed. I liked that I don't have to stoop to get the clothes out like other FL's. I didn't have space below cabinets for a pedestal, which costs more anyway. This model rated very high in Cons. Reports and the local store had not seen any come back for problems, as you will read about other products. However, be prepared to spend more time getting through your piles of laundry. With heavy cottons, no problem--they come out dryer and the increased wash time is made up with less drying time. Often it's an hour and ten minutes for a cycle with an enhanced rinse. It handles a lot of towels and jeans. However, perma press (50 minute cycle) is not as wrinkle free, even with a reduced spin and smelly clothing or dirty clothing [kids in sports, gardening clothes?] need more than one cycle. In Minn. I like having a machine to wash down comforters, hand wash wool sweaters, winter jackets & mittens. This machine was great at each of those--pillows too. Clothes can be dried extremely well with an engine like a jet plane spinning them as dry as you choose, saving drying time. The water and energy efficiency seem to come from the reliance on gravity more than immersion in water. Your clothes will be sprayed with water and once dripping wet, they bounce and sit, and bounce and sit in a small puddle of water for a LONG time. I have this machine on a second level and the noise and spinning are not much different than my previous machine, but I did ask the installer to come back and level it because there is vibration from the high speed spin and you want it level, from every direction. My kitchen is next to the laundry and I close the door if I'm using the fastest spin on heavy items. Good Luck....See MoreNeed help purchasing FL washer/dryer
Comments (11)Sarah, we had to replace our washer and dryer this summer and wound up picking the LG. Mine are downstairs on tile over a concrete slab, but once the leveling was adjusted a little, they are almost motionless and quiet. I don't think you'd have any problem with them on the second floor. Ours are on pedestals and still no motion. The only issue I have had is that for some reason, some tomato based stains haven't come out as well. I'm not sure if that's the machine, detergent or what, but someone suggested some vinegar, adn that did the trick -- either directly on the spot or in the machine's fabric softener dispenser. On the other hand, I've been very pleased with the cleaning of everything else (and those shirts now that we know the trick). Our white sheets and towels are whiter and I really like the sanitary cycle. It runs longer, but it's so quiet, it doesn't bother me. There is a quick wash that runs in about 20 min. That comes in handy when one of the boys forgets gym clothes or a band shirt, etc. I don't think I ever saw your kitchen finished -- just some progress and near done shots. Hope that all went well....See MoreBoopadaboo
