TGIF July 17 2009....one week to go!!

Happy Friday everyone!

One week from today we move! Am I ready?? Well not exactly.

I am ready but the fam is another story.

Still waiting for the kids to start packing....the lower level is not packed and the car (76 camaro DH bought some 20 years ago that has been in the garage) has not been moved.

I figure I will stop cooking on Sunday and pack uo the last few things I left out to maintain a usable kitchen. After that I will rely on frozen grub and take out.

Today I have to take Drew over to the new city and sign him up for school...I also want him to check out the Acme over there (he works at the acme here with me but he can transfer to a new store without losing anything-I on the other hand will lose seniority and pay) to see if its a place he would like to work.

I will of course swing by the house to see if they moved the fridge out yet as well as the debris in the garage.

Later I am going out to dinner with SIL.

I am working the weekend but in my spare time I will be out looking at cars for Amy. She and Frank want her to have an SUV. Truth be told its really a good time to buy a used car as there is a lot out there to chose from...hopefully we can get her into something she likes this weekend!!

All in all I "think" its all going to start coming together and by this time next week we'll have already started to sign our names oh about a bazillion times!!

I raise my glass of water to you all for listening and helping me thru this whole ordeal...CHEERS!!!

good luck on everything, susie.

Here I have the farm and the same old stuff. I'll get some fresh lettuce out of the garden for salads and the ducks have grown about 4 times their original size.

Elery and I will do "something" tomorrow, but I don't know what. He keeps asking me what I want to do and I keep explaining that when he's not here I don't "do" anything except housework and the farm, LOL. He needs to be entertained, I guess....

Happy Friday!

I am going camping this weekend, we are having a welcome cool spell for this time of year and it was in the 60s this morning and I think the high will be upper 80s or low 90s for the next couple of days. The husband does not want to go and neither does my brother in law so I will just be me my sister and 2 year old nephew. This will be his first camping trip so it should be a blast.

I don't know about all of you but some of my flower beds have become "sunny". I mean that the ice storms have broken so many large tree limbs off that the have way too much sun now to be shade beds. I thaink that is some of my flowers problem. I started watering last week and some of my plants seem to be starting. Although I always grow sunflowers for the grandchildren, I say that but I really love them too. but they are almost to the roof top this year! They normally don't quite make it that tall. guess we'll wait and see. We go out to check them every day. I did some winter sow as well for the first time. I have to say I did like the idea and I had some success, but I am one of those that I like some instant color. I know I won't get that form this os I think I will get some annuals to place in with them this year. When I do that again next year I will know for the get go and plant some in there to begin with. I planted a lot of new bulbs this year and got all the green tops but no flowers so sure hope nothing gets them before spring! Proudgm, what is this "tomatoes in upside down 5 gallon bucket"? Is it like those bags? Where did you "hand" it? You have me thinking up all kinds of crazy things. that's not always a good thing for me, lol. Oh yes and my elephant ears are doing so great this year too. sure wish I could figure out why every thing else is so stunted. Christie, so sorry to hear about your families loss. I know a new friend will find you when it is the right time. My Mahala is still hanging in there. I give her shots and a lot of meds. she has goo days and bad, but she isn't in pain other when it's cold or rainy. Like me w/arthritis. Bonnie

When my sister was told she had 6 months to live, we both read "Embraced by the Light", it is beautiful. Maddie - I heard that "Fast Food Nation" is a great read. Good luck with the interview, change your thinking to positive, even if it is her, maybe she has changed - 7 years can be a lifetime ago for some people. (Besh I just read your post to Maddie - great minds think alike LOL) It's official, I know every Cable technician by first name. We have such a problem with our service and they are stumped by what it could be, everything checks out. The supervisor called me this morning, I have had 6 different cable boxes in 2 weeks. They were scheduled to come back Monday afternoon, but the supervisor called to say they are coming today, aside from that he is giving us a nice credit for our inconvenience, that I didn't even ask for. BJ - just in case I miss you HAVE A GREAT TIME IN HAWAII!!! Enjoy the sun and the surf, sounds like you have enough reading to keep you busy for the entire time. Hopefully this trip will snap DH out of whatever is bugging him. Jen - I have to concur, the girls are beauties - we are all so proud of them. Thanks for always thinking of us. I just got the book "You The Owner's Manual - An Insider's Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger". It is well written, easy to read, cute graphics and has a lot of humor thrown in. One of the author's is Michael F. Roizen, MD - that is on Oprah, etc. with his Real Age test. If you have never taken one, I have a link below - it is fun, but gives you some tips on small changes to add years onto your life. DeeMarie - been to any good diner's lately? I am officially going on BJD's diet, (BJ daughters). I just need to boost my exercise regiment. I have been doing something every morning, and weights when I think of it during the day. I just realized I wasn't SS anymore and I can't even remember when it happened - so this just ain't workin for me anymore. DD#2 is off to Venezuela this evening for her old roommates wedding - I am a bit nervous, as she is traveling alone and arriving late at night - although the family said they arranged for transportation - I can't help being a mom.... Stacie, it's NEVER good to hide things, that's a strain in itself. Both parties should suffer equally with financial issues, I think! Maggie, good luck with that room. I HATE painting. Be careful with the fumes, remember you have to take care of that bean. duane, I moved into my house 23 years ago and swore never again. It IS the only way to truly clean house, though. Oh, and happy birthday on Thursday! Lyndaluu, enjoy the wedding. I have watched a bazillion videos online now about how to do zippers, how to make a boxed cushion covers, making flat-felled seams (because I want it on the denim), etc. Every one of them do it different. I've used muslin to do mock-ups on each different kind of cushion. They came out pretty good but I'm still hesitant to do the real thing yet. I didn't try the zippers on them, I just used velcro strips (iron on). The only good thing is that all the upholstery is removable cushions, none of it is attached to the frame. So it's basically all cushion covers. I even saw websites where they made slip covers out of painter's drop cloths, they were gorgeous! If these come out OK, I might even make another set out of the dropcloths as a switch out once every few months. The only thing is, I can't afford the new foam, after searching online I've learned that the foam alone would buy a brand new couch! But this couch is special, it's from Ethan Allen, when they still made it in the US and it's a beautiful wood frame and still in excellent condition, there isn't anything out there now that I would want. I like Early American style and even Ethan Allen is now doing mostly modern stuff, which I despise. I might put a layer of quilt batting on top of the old foam to bulk it up slightly, we'll see.

Sounds like you have it all under control, Susie! I know you are going to love, love, love your new place!

Annie, you deserve a break! LOL I hope you and Elery find something fun to "do" tomorrow!

Melissa, enjoy your camping trip. We have been unseasonably cold here the last couple of days, too. Highs only in the mid 60's.....very weird.

Only plan I have for this weekend is to find time to go shopping to pick up last minute wardrobe needs for Erin's wedding next weekend.

Gotta find time to get to the hospital to see Frank, too. Although he is still not as responsive as they had hoped he would be.

Was up all night with a sick dog, so I am draggin' this morning. Geez, when it rains it pours.

I will be so happy to get on the river with the girls in a few weeks and just relax!

It's 2 pm and I'm still working on my morning coffee, so a clunk of my travel mug to you.

Susie -- in your SPARE time? What spare time?? Hey, glad that Acme settled. Too bad you have to come back to this store to keep all your perqs.

No sleeping in for me tomorrow. The carpet for the den will be installed at 8:15. Hope I like it. I can't even remember what I ordered. Something beige.

So tonight I have to clean out everything but the big stuff from the den. I already did that a few months ago when the den was remodeled. Oh well, I should be getting good at it.

Saturday night is dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We're going to George's which is George Perrier's place in the suburbs. His city restaurant is Le Bec Fin.

SUnday, I don't know. On Sunday I'll do everything else, like laundry, yard work, etc.

The boss is on vacation (or holiday as she says. She's from Toronto)for the next two weeks. I have plenty of work to do but it will be nice to not have her breathing down my neck.

Susie - I am also happy to hear tha Acme settled. It had to be unnerving to think what all the possible outcomes may have been. AND good luck with the packing! It will all be worth it in the end, just keep your eye on the prize!

Annie - happy farming! Maybe it is time to teach Elery how to fix fences, muck stalls, etc. If all else fails, teach him to can! LOL!

Melissa - more power to you. I am NOT a camper so I shudder to think of taking a 2 year old camping. Hope you enjoy your outdoorsy time with your sister though!

Linda I am still sending healing thoughts your way - hope Frank is back to his old self soon.

Dedtired - have a blast at George's! You have to let me know how it is (well, I know it will be FAB, but tell me what everyone ordered LOL) And good luck with the carpeting - maybe you opted for the eggplant or chartreuse instead and it will be a huge surprise!

We are laying low tonight. It was supposed to be "Dive In" Movie night at our pool, but it is raining, so I think it will be cancelled. That means the boys have a Spongebob Marathon in the works and DH and I will watch a non-kid appropriate movie in peace (I think he got Role Models, but I'm not sure). Tomorrow we aer going to MD to see my mom for her birthday. Sunday I am camping out on the computer to buy Brewfest Tix as soon as they go on sale - it sold out really fast last year (less than 24 hours) and promises to sell out just as fast this year. THen it is of to the car show (classic Corvettes, oh yippee) and hopefully getting the last of the moulding cut to finish the trim in the batroom. I won't bore you with the whole story here, but since last Sat, my entire bathroom was unexpectedly gutted and rebuilt. I ended up drywalling, spackling, sanding and painting into the wee hours several days this past week.
