I use one gallon warm water, one cup ammonia and 1/4 cup of armstrong cleaner and I can get any floor clean. This is on the back of the Armstrong floor cleaner bottle. I have used this when I thought that a stripper was to strong or would hurt the floors and now I dont have to use any stripper and can even use this on wood floors with no streaks and no spots.

Zinsser makes a great primer. The others are right though, it won't go on evenly like your final coat. You're doing fine. :) I painted a wood desk last summer and when I finished with the primer, I thought the same thing, "oh, what a mess I've made." But then I put on the first finish coat (a black high gloss paint), all of my doubts went away. You may need to put on two coats of your regular paint though since you're covering the wood and primer. I would put one coat on and then see if you even need to fill those corners. A little spackle will work - no mixing needed. When you first apply it it will be pink and then it dries to white. Then you can lightly sand it and paint on your final coat. Also, as others mentioned..use a really good regular paint brush. It will have finer bristles and give you a nice, smooth application. The inexpensive brushes have courser bristles. Believe me, the brush does make a difference. Bottom line is... you're doing great! :)

Our PeeWee woke up in the middle of the night gasping to take a breath. We rushed her to an Emergency vet hospital and they immediately put her on oxygen and had her in ICU for a day and a half. We learned she had congestive heart failure and major kidney problems but were told that with meds and special food we might have bought her anywhere from 6 months to a year. Her lifestyle would be quite different than before her episode but she would be pain free. Well, it was obvious to us that though she was in no pain she had no energy and barely ate or drank anything. She might have had time, but she had no quality of life. I was so afraid she'd have another episode and would die gasping for air. I couldn't make a decision and prayed she would die on her own. PeeWee slept in a playpen at the foot of our bed because of incontinence problems and in addition to clean towels I would place the nightgown I had worn the previous night so she'd have my scent close to her. I awoke around 2:30 AM to check her and her breathing was shallow but she was comfortable. She was sleeping in the far corner of the playpen. I checked her again at 5:15 and she was gone. It was especially heartbreaking when I realized she had made it to my nightgown and passed away curled up on it. My heart still aches when I think of the effort it took her to reach that spot, but I guess it was important to her to be close to me in some way. I'm so sorry you're going through this. If you love your furbaby, and I know you do, this is a monumental decision you'll be having to make. Hopefully, Abby will pass away painlessly in her sleep. Mona
