Oh, I am so sorry, you have my sympathy. It must have been the week for water damage. After a summer of 100 plus degree temps and no rain, Monday night a wind storm took off the roof of our office building, and then the rain came. Tuesday on my way to a dr appt I get a call that the office has been flooded. This is our second floor in a month, mind you. The property restoration people showed up not long after I got there, with their fans and dehumidifers. It looked like a mess, but that we would survive. It rained Tuesday night. Office flooded again. More carpet sucking, then carpet removal, more dehumidifiers and fans, Thursday it rained again, TWICE. By now it was way past funny and on the threshold of disaster. Fortunately the computers and files were fine, just everything else was soggy and/or destroyed. Clients of ours gave us some temp space until they can rehab our entire office. It rained again last night, I ran up to check today. They had supposedly temporarily fixed the leak, but I didn't trust it, but lo and behold, the floor was dry and a massive blower with super hot air was blowing through the office. Monday we have to tackle inventorying what was destroyed and trying to decide how to store what didn't die.

Heck, I don't know, I always make a mess, it's just an integral part of my baking process. LOL I agree on overworking the biscuit dough. I eventually learned because when the recipe said "knead", I took it seriously and kneaded the stuff like I was making yeast bread. I did learn to handle biscuits lightly, though, and not to turn the cutter when cutting them, and my biscuits were more successful. Grandma used to make drop biscuits too, or just pat all the dough into a pan and bake it in one piece. If she did cut them they were always square so she didn't have to "re-work" the bits of dough. I mostly use Ann T's biscuit recipe, one of those pictures of cheese biscuits and I was a goner. Terri, it looks a lot like the one you use too, but without sugar. Our PeeWee woke up in the middle of the night gasping to take a breath. We rushed her to an Emergency vet hospital and they immediately put her on oxygen and had her in ICU for a day and a half. We learned she had congestive heart failure and major kidney problems but were told that with meds and special food we might have bought her anywhere from 6 months to a year. Her lifestyle would be quite different than before her episode but she would be pain free. Well, it was obvious to us that though she was in no pain she had no energy and barely ate or drank anything. She might have had time, but she had no quality of life. I was so afraid she'd have another episode and would die gasping for air. I couldn't make a decision and prayed she would die on her own. PeeWee slept in a playpen at the foot of our bed because of incontinence problems and in addition to clean towels I would place the nightgown I had worn the previous night so she'd have my scent close to her. I awoke around 2:30 AM to check her and her breathing was shallow but she was comfortable. She was sleeping in the far corner of the playpen. I checked her again at 5:15 and she was gone. It was especially heartbreaking when I realized she had made it to my nightgown and passed away curled up on it. My heart still aches when I think of the effort it took her to reach that spot, but I guess it was important to her to be close to me in some way. I'm so sorry you're going through this. If you love your furbaby, and I know you do, this is a monumental decision you'll be having to make. Hopefully, Abby will pass away painlessly in her sleep. Mona
