This is the only way I've found to get rid of mold.....

Many people ask about odors, or mold, in their washer.

I had mold in a Staber washer. We tried everything to get

rid of the mold which was causing a smell in the cloths.

Nothing we tried worked. Not bleach, not the smelly washer

chemical, not anything we tried and we tried about every

thing possible over a period of about a year.

Then I think I found out how to do it. I took the Staber out of service for a period of about a year. I let it totally dry out and the mold must have died. I let the

machine sit in a garage doing nothing while I decided

what to do with it. When my daughter needed a washer I

gave it to her - doing a good maintenance wash before-hand

of course. So far, after 5 months, no bad smells. Only

powder detergents of the HE standard are used and no fabric

softeners are used nor are liquid detergents. A bleach

load every two weeks or so and Afresh once-per-month.

I hope it keeps working out OK. The best approach is to

never let mold get started. If it happens it might be

able to be corrected. Just have another washer available

while its drying out and the mold dies.
