My favorite is a hand weeder originally from Smith Hawkins, alas, they no longer sell it. It came in both left and right handed variety. I've found a similar one at another site but since I bought 7 when SH was selling them on sale for $5.99 each, I should be set for the next 10 years (but I wont be able to give any away which is why I originally bought 7. I would take a picture of my favorite but it's out in my truck and it's snowing and I'm here in my robe and slippers and intend to stay in that condition for the next hour or so. I have faith that spring will eventually come, or else we'll skip it and go straight to summer.

LG, your urns and the cache pot are lovely. And perfect for you. I am looking forward to seeing how you decorate with them. I'm not ready for Christmas, other than loving looking at stuff and buying some. But I sure want summer over, our nice Fall weather doesn't even start till around first of Nov! But last year I decided to start decorating for it on the actual first day of Fall. LOL. And I will again this year, it gives me so much more time to enjoy it. Its easy to tweek for Halloween. By the way, "someone" in Canada sent me some cookies!! Only in Canada can you find chocolate type cookies called Whippet (like my dogs!). I'd heard of them but never saw any. Now I only know two people in Canada, and the other one doesn't have initials of L.G. like on the mailing label. I've made Glenda's Alaskan Coleslaw for two different occasions (a wedding rehearsal dinner and a 'darts team' party and have had several people tell me it is the best coleslaw they've ever had and ask me for the recipe. I do add the celery and the green pepper that are in the recipe (and that Glenda leaves out). Either way, it is one delicious dish! Another favorite of ours is fresh asparagus. We lay it out on a cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle lightly with seasoning (we use seasoned salt, but any favorite could be used) and bake until tender/crisp. And a third favorite... young potatoes sliced with the skins still on. Put in a foil pouch with a little margarine, a bit of salt and course ground black pepper, and dill weed. Seal up and cook on the grill until done.

Primroses start to show up in February but they're meant to be house plants. Although I do plant them out when it gets warmer. Pansies are always the first outdoor plants to be available here. Usually in March sometime. And of course I never can resist them, lol! As for weeds...UGH! They are epidemic! I have never, ever had weeds like I do now. A few purslane and dandelions but controllable. Not anymore. they are rampant and varieties I've never seen before. It's very daunting because because I just don't know how to get a handle on them. I never got out last season so all those weeds are still out there growing in this crazy too warm for January weather. HELP! Malorena, that isn't, by any chance, some kind of Loosestrife is it? Since my delightful "Master Gardener" neighbor planted it in her yard (and she should have known better) I've been battling it like crazy. It's on the invasive plant list for Michigan!
