Comments (4)I'm really interested in your catmint- Please let me know if there is anything on my list that interests you! Unfortunately the plant section isn't as impressive right now since I moved last summer and am still unsure of how many plants will pull through the winter in the new home, but take a look and let me know!!! Thanks, Rachel...See MorePrime candidates for Bonsai next spring! I can't wait.
Comments (10)Aw! Thanks Josh, Jodi, and Laura! Boy has it been crazy around here lately. Laura: Thank you thank you! I have told Mom about you all and it made here smile. She is still so sick that she wants to pass out when she stands. I am a bit concerned. I hope she gets better sooner than later. Jodi: My bulbs are still in their pots stuck in the corner of my basement away from light and dry until I give them a small bit of water. I will treat them like I do my plumerias. I hope yours fare well:) Snow, please...We have been very fortunate around these parts with highs in teh 50's and 60's most of last month into this week. Yesterday it was 67 here and humid. Quite strange actually! I too have been getting ready for winter, well, it seems that we are never ready for winter. I could find something to do everyday until the first snow fall or before it's too cold to rake. By the way, where the heck do the leaves come from every time I rake them away even though the trees are bare? My pond is covered, my greenhouse is covered with a 'Solar Tarp' which makes a huge difference, the plants are stored away, yard raked, weeds pulled, shrubs berlapped, and trees covered. Josh: I appreciate your support along with Al's and I will keep everyone up to date about these babies. By the way, that beautiful tree you gave me is now bare and in the cold shed. I will take a pic this week. Jodi: By the way, Geraniums are my next craze. I have several of them growing in the greenhouse at this moment. I love them all. The fancy ones of course. Thanks all. As I speak, the temp has dropped 10 degrees and it's pouring out, turn to snow by the am. I hope the cold snap is brief. Take care all and to Al, a good night:-) Mike...See MoreMichigan - think spring and perennials swap!
Comments (6)It is just getting colder here, I have quit looking at the outside temps! It really is not too bad if you are working outside, I actually wore too many clothes, got sweaty shoveling bedding for the horses. With December and much of January so warm, I just kept thinking "Enjoy it now, winter is still to come". So I spent LOTS of time outside. The wet ground was a bit of a worry, my tulips and other bulbs may be rotten by Spring, too much water. It was just wet forever. No hard ground till mid-Jan. Never did get the rose collars on the bushes, nor any leaf piles around them. With the wet, I was afraid the roses would rot. I guess they make it or don't, this winter! A plant exchange sounds like fun. We have one locally in Owosso, early in the season too. Ours is an auction, with donations for the Garden Club. I got some very nice things there last year. I will put yours on my schedule, try to make it. Thanks for telling us. I will post the Owosso Auction when I see a date....See MoreDid I do good?
Comments (5)Key To My Heart is a real beauty and one of my favorites. I can't tell you about long-term bud count or increase since was only it's second year here. I purchased KTMH as a single fan in the summer of '06 and potted it up prior to moving. It bloomed in the pot for me. When we moved in early August, it was planted in its permanent home. This year it came up as a single fan again and bloomed on a single scape. By fall, I did have an increase fan, and I hope to see more increase in the spring. The color is so spectacular, though, that I could live with just a single scape of bloom every year if I had to! Bella Lugosi has settled in and bloomed beautifully as a small clump last summer. It was a gift from a friend and I treasure it. Most flowers were perfect with very little splotching last summer. Linda...See Moresara_ann-z6bok
