It is just getting colder here, I have quit looking at the outside temps! It really is not too bad if you are working outside, I actually wore too many clothes, got sweaty shoveling bedding for the horses.

With December and much of January so warm, I just kept thinking "Enjoy it now, winter is still to come". So I spent LOTS of time outside.

The wet ground was a bit of a worry, my tulips and other bulbs may be rotten by Spring, too much water. It was just wet forever. No hard ground till mid-Jan. Never did get the rose collars on the bushes, nor any leaf piles around them. With the wet, I was afraid the roses would rot. I guess they make it or don't, this winter!

A plant exchange sounds like fun. We have one locally in Owosso, early in the season too. Ours is an auction, with donations for the Garden Club. I got some very nice things there last year.

I will put yours on my schedule, try to make it. Thanks for telling us. I will post the Owosso Auction when I see a date.

I hadn't heard about the Owosso swap. I will pass the word on to the Michigan Perennials group online. The perennial swap in Wayland is just for gardeners to get together and swap plants - no fees, donations etc. We have had people come from as far away as south of Indianapolis IN, north to Traverse City, up by Port Huron and so forth. There was an article about the swap in the Grand Gardens magazine in the Oct-Nov issue - fun! Look forward to meeting you in the spring!
