Jane, thanks for all your comments. The boa's are the ones DD bought me at Michaels on clearance for $1 ea. Karen, if I set a table for you it would be full of purple colors!LOL Any time you feel like a vacation, come on up. Thanks Candy, hope DGD will remember this one. Luvs, no wonder this ice cream cone called to you! Your an Ice Cr Cone making Queen! I love yours and the red cherry really stands out. I think you could go with a heart, cherry or red and white theme and it would be darling. BTW, vanilla is my favorite flavor. There was a time in my life I didn't pass DQ w/o stopping for a Butterfinger Blizzard. Glad that passed but I still enjoy one occasionally. Punk

Msrose - or, we could just remove our drywall and exchange it. I WANT that green in the mix, darn it! (kidding) And, if it makes you feel any better... I WOULD have painted 4 times but we were pressed to have the house ready for the appraisal and my partner was not in his usual patient "we'll paint it until you find the right color" mode. In fact, that's why I have Valspar/allen + roth instead of Ben Moore in the first place. He made me go get paint on a weekend. Yes, that was a crisis point for me. ;) So, I'm living with it. We'll see for how long. It's really a nice color. If only I wanted a blue DR. Good luck with it. I find picking a paint color soooo difficult. And, I'm the worst combination because a) I'm bad at visualizing those chips on the wall even after I splotch and b) I care a lot about getting the color right. If I only had one of those two things, life would be simpler.

Finally caught up with my DGD. The cake purse was a "little smaller than the real purse." Yes, there was a discussion about price when the request was made. She told the customer she had no idea how to price it, since she had never done one like that, but told her it would be about $100.00. Remember, she works at home, therefore doesn't have all the expenses that a shop would have. So when it was finished that is what she charged her, $100.00. She said if she ever did a similar one, it would be more. It was a challenge to her, and she likes a challenge, and it was a learning, fun, experience, I thank you for all the nice comments. I sent her the URL for this site, so she can read them herself. Some of you have said you would like to see some more of her work, which is mostly cupcakes, plus a few other things. Scissors, she didn't take any classes or anything; started with small things and progressed from there. She has surprised us with all of it. Jemdandy, maybe "cakeitect?" She will be set up at a local festival tomorrow, with just cupcakes. Don't know what kinds she will be taking, but she will be "introducing" her newest one: Apple Pie a la Mode. Have no idea how that can work! Sue

They're knitted, then felted. So fun..they're HUGE to start, then felt down really small. Now that I can post pictures, I'll start showing the socks I make. You'll be AMAZED. I brag, but you'll see!

I thought "purple UGGS!" too, those are great, Vickey. How do you control the shrinkage to end up with the size you need? I'd be so scared (if I knitted) that they would come out the wrong size!

Oh, what did you or DH end up giving MIL for Christmas? :)

DH got MIL gift cards to a resteraunt Flamingo.

Great thing about felting, the wool is VERY plyable when wet, so you just PULL it if it's too small. If it's too large, put it back in hot water. There is a point of no return, but I haven't found it yet :) As you wear them, they form to your feet, and when they get too stretched out, what I've read is you just throw them in the washer, they'll shrink, so you put them on your feet, and walla, form fitting slippers again!!!

They're slippery, so we're putting clear silicone on the botton to make them grip better. But they're really soft. And very warm (DS has a pair and loves his). They knit up sooo fast it's amazing, but they are so huge, you think bigfoot could wear them. I didn't think I'd like felting because I like working with little needles and intricate patterns, but you can make so many mistakes, and you can't see any once they felt!!

I got the pattern at the link below. I've made the clogs, and the lower topped alpine boots also. I have the pattern for the ballet slippers but haven't made them yet, they're next on my list!!

You did a nice job! I made a pair of felted slippers from a free pattern on Knitty - one run in the wash and they felted nicely, it really is fun! I am going to try a pair of these elf shoes for my boss' little girl - they are darling! I saw on one site where a knitter embellished a pair with embroidery and left off the pointy collar!

Vickey,
Those are adorable! You are really going nuts with the knitting this year! I have been afraid too of felting, for fear of waisting all that good wool.
Those patterns are great.
