What's for Dinner Thursday, Jan 2nd?

No idea yet, only 3 pm here..

I just got back a short bit ago from a hair cut..ended up with a bit more than I planned knocked off..but I like it..left with a footlong pony tail..maybe have a 4" one now..lol..

Went into work today for about 40 min..to be ready for Monday Morning..
Washed dishes...made ham and cheese omelets for "brunch"..

So dinner....is in the future..just not sure what..

Sauerkraut and sausage, baked beans and mashed potatoes. Was sooo good!

Wonderful lunch with grandson, Parke Jr, today! My treat, of course!

Little Donkey restaurant. I love that place.
PJR had their smoked chicken quesadellia with black beans
I had their catfish fingers taco, and a tamale.with grilled corn on the cob

Everything is made in their restaurant, fresh!

Dessert: An order of Churro's with dark chocolate sauce for dipping.

Hi Carolyn, I don't have any problem with any of that... all water under the bridge... Someone mentioned at another board of writing down your regrets for the year and then burning it and moving on ... and that is precisely what I have done... I don't know what you may have gathered from OHH, but I have always maintained that I am Christian, but I am not Christ, and I am not perfect... but I AM as good as the rest of the OHH'ers whether they believe it or not.. With that being said, I do hope that we can and will move on.. and that you will not judge me based on the "Bully Squad" and their opinions.. Happy New Year... CS

OMG, Glenda--that looks wonderful. On the weather tonight, they showed pictures of snow in B'ham. Be very careful if you have to get out! Shirley, foods always better the second time around, 'ya know! YogaLady, enjoy a cook-free evening. We've always liked fruit with our meals. Don't know how it started, but it sure is good. Brr, Sue! Cubed steak and mashed potatoes and gravy was almost a staple when I was growing up. Sometimes we had bread and gravy instead of the potatoes and I still prefer it. Raven, I just love chicken salad. I have some turkey I didn't use tonight. Think maybe I'll make turkey salad for tomorrow night. Thanks for the idea! Azzalea, your dinner sounds delicious, too. I am just stuffed from dinner (we aren't used to dessert), but everyone's meal sound good. Have you ever baked the bacon in the oven? I just learned how to do this and I doubt I'll ever fry it again--and it doesn't splatter all over the oven, either! If we were neighbors, Jas, I'd lend you sour cream. It's like a staple at our house. Trade you sour cream for some fried potatoes ;-) Sue, $4 for a bag of Tostitos is outrageous. I wouldn't buy them either. Your taco soup will keep you warm and cozy, but I hope your snow doesn't stick. Lucky you to have your talented GD's cupcakes in your freezer! I'll post the cake recipe tomorrow--I'm about ready for bedtime!

Glenda, I agree you can't get much better than that--especially the crab bisque. And the frozen yogurt ;-) Raven, I haven't had fried chicken in ages and it sure sounds good. Wish KFC was closer! Georgysmom--aah, tomorrow is your dinner party. Everything sounds delicious. I'll probably take our decorations down this weekend, too. I got them up so late I'm still enjoying the tree at night. But our HOA says we have to have them down by Jan. 6. Bah humbug! Shirley, I'd eat Stouffer's every night if I had my druthers--well, maybe not every night but I sure do like their entrees. YogaLady, that doesn't sound like a very fun day. And I know quite well the stress you feel. I'm the opposite. When I feel stressed, I can't eat. It's just the other 99% of the time when I have a problem! Nita, have fun visiting with friends/family and enjoy your dinner. Sure hope you plan to come to Florida soon. Miss you!! Jude, mind if we all come over and help you out with the leftovers. Those fried oysters sure sound deliious, but so does the turkey. Azzalea, both your lunches sound so good. I wouldn't want dinner either. But if you were to twist my arm I could probably eat the Danish ;-)

Glenda, isn't it strange when we really like something we start to crave it if we don't have it enough. I think you're that way with the tart--and I'm that way with spinach quiche. It sounds like you had an enjoyable afternoon with friends. Georgysmom, sure glad you're feeling better. After 18 holes of golf and a luncheon, I can see why you wouldn't want to be in the kitchen. Like Liz said last night, it's a great way to keep the kitchen clean. :-) Lindalu, I can't tell you how good that sounds. It's like Sunday lunch at our house when I was young. Enjoy--ha! I know you will!! Mary, I know what you mean about doing major shopping when you don't live close to a decent-sized town. It's a pain in the arse. I swear I will NEVER live more than a mile from Publix again in my lifetime :-) And yes, better days are ahead when you get that knee fixed!!

Today it was raining then turned to light snow. Very cold here, they say overnight it will be 12 deg.

Decided to make a pot of Southwest chili for hubby. I had a chicken salad sandwich. For dessert it was sour cream coffee cake. Good day for cooking.

Baked some chicken breasts yesterday, so I used that in a Knorr's Broccoli alfredo. Smells so good.

Frigid temps today. The high was -16F (3F), going down to -24C (-11F) overnight.

Today I boiled ham, potatoes and green beans. Mmmmm smelled good all afternoon and tasted even better! Something so simple can taste so good.

We've had little to no appetite for several days and have been sort of subsisting on packaged and canned stuff. But today I made a pot of lentil soup, packed with lots of other vegetables. It sure did taste good, lol!

I love soup, I could eat it all the time..chowders and stews too...husband and boys not so...
Gosh it would be so easy to live off them, and cheaper too..

I couldn't take beans today, so no leftovers of yesterday for me..lol

Glenda, how nice..to have lunch with PJR..I love mexican flavors myself..

So it's over an hour later...and still no game plan for our dinner...

But I'm hungry..so better come up with something...before I get grumpy..lol

We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, & turnip greens(leftover) and cornbread(leftover)

I made a big one, so DH can have sandwiches off of it for this weekend when I won't be home...

Rhizo, I'm saving my ham stock to make soup. I don't like split pea soup at all.
I've got red and green lentils, and I'm thinking of using red lentils because they cook softer, and some potatoes and carrots and onions for a potato soup. What do you think?

Okay..finally came to me..

Asian Turkey Meatballs, fried rice and steamed jasmine rice..

I think I'm steam some cauliflower too.

Laura, I think meatloaf will be Sundays dinner. Thanks for the "thought".

We picked up a take & bake Greek pizza from Whole Foods last night to try. DH was off today & fixed it for dinner since I had a long day. It's very tasty!
