My 82-yr-old mom was just telling me about Christmas time in 1936 (in Wisconsin) when it was so warm they didn't even need coats when they went outside.

Yeah, I'm missing the snow, too. I'm waiting for the obligatory news story about the lack of snow and the resulting droughts. Normally it's the obligatory story about how the metros are running out of money as they've used too much sand and salt on the roads already, blah blah blah. :)

But, when the snow DOES get here, since you like it SO much, you can stop by and shovel our driveway. Sound good?

Missing the snow? Not one bit! It's a relief not to have to deal with it. I am enjoying the delay, but expecting that we will have to pay for it later.

I think the jokes on us. In our area, we were told hold on to your hats, it's going to be a rough winter with a lot of snow. Not! But it has me worried about what Mother Nature has in store for January. I'm afraid it will all hit at once the we'll spend the rest of winter digging ourselves out!

I am hoping for snow, too! I loved that winter two years ago when we had 56 inches here in Northern Virginia. Would love a repeat!!!

Sadly, no Northern Lights this far south. Someday, I will get far enough north to see them-maybe if I ever get up to Lambeau for a game...

Missing the snow? NOT! I am so enjoying the extra money in my pocket not having to pay plow guy. I think I was already several hundred dollars into him last year by this time.

We were in NYC enjoying a day off yesterday and visiting DH's parents. Walking back to my in-laws' apartment after dinner, I declared I was ready for spring! Too cold for me.

DH and I both got new (to us) 4 wheel drive cars in the last few months. That should guarantee no snow this year. At least I'm hoping!

I think we got your snow this year, Faron. It snowed and snowed again and again . . . and it never melted in between. We had a beautiful, snowy white Christmas and I loved every bit of it! Thank you for the loner. You can have it back now, though (LOL!).

We are at our ski condo in NH, wishing for snow too. It's cold, 11 this morning, so they are making snow up on the mountain. DH arrived today and I'm hoping for his sake the skiing is good tomorrow. I don't ski, but I did get snowshoes and can't wait to use them. It took me a while to realize that the key to the whole winter thing is the gear. If you have good, warm, clothes, it is a blessing to be outside and active.

Mostly I cook, knit, walk the dogs and meet everyone for apr�s ski!

Faron, we are at least 2 hours north of you and we had rain, yes, that's right rain on Boxing Day. My mom is pushing 80 and she can't remember such a thing. I'm with you, I miss the snow. We have had a slight dusting, but not enough to get the shovel out for.

A precip. band has been movin' thru the area, and we might get a 2"-4" by morning...woo-hoo!!

What on earth could you miss about snow? The cold? The grey? The accidents? The slush? The poor visibility while driving? The splash on your windshield from the other cars and trucks? The bundling up? The salt? The slipping and falling? The black ice? The howling winds? The 20 ft piles of ugly grey ice that remain in parking lots until June? The flooding rivers from snow melt each spring?

I know all about skiing and fresh fallen snow and hot chocolate and the need to replace groundwater and all, but I still hope it stays up by you guys! I am so enjoying this!

Count me among those missing the snow. It actually makes things look brighter and it protects the plants. We only had a dusting of snow earlier - nothing worth shoveling.

What I do not like is ice. It misted a bit yesterday and froze. DH fell coming home from the gym. I hope it did further damage the shoulder since he's already had surgery on it in the past.

We're supposed to get snow today in the Twin Cities, but so far not a flurry.

I agree with Faron. My holiday spirit was about as low as possible ...not holiday blues or anything like that...just could not get into it w/o snow. I did an adequate "tastefully understated" decorating job on the outside of our house but inside the bare minimum. Up side ...easy to put away!

Another light dusting here, but it's already melting. What I really miss is weather cold enough to skate outside. The kids have been off for a week and we haven't skated or gone sledding once!

Nope, not seriously.

Miss snow? Not a chance. This has been wonderful! Looks like cold weather this week coming up, until the end of the week when we might be in the 40's again! Absolutely happy! Don't care if I ever see snow again, or ice, or weather colder than 50 for that matter.

No arctic blasts of cold air yet and I don't miss the snow either (except for Christmas, I love a fresh white blanket at Christmas). But I also feel the fat lady has not sung yet, and the winter they warned us about this year could easily still hit before all is said and done.

Right now in the Northland in Fargo, it's 24deg. @ Noon CST, and WINDY! Gusts to 40+. Nice & sunny though.

Sooo jealous here in MD. No snow, nothing but bright sunshine and upper 40-50- even last night. Barely cold enough for a fire.
I grew up in AZ where we would always play outside with our new toys on Christmas- no coats needed.No white Christmas's ever.
I loved the huge huge snow we got a couple of years ago- hope for another blizzard! and yes selfish thought but since I cant control the weather I can wish for anything!
The next door neighbor had someone mowing her back yard this morning- weird.

Last year, there was all this talk, right around Christmas, about how we hadn't had any snow yet. In the greater Boston area, this is unusual.

Then in January and February, we got record amounts of snow. To the point where on-street parking was banned and towns had to bring in back hoes and dump trucks to haul the snow away, just so emergency vehicles could get down the street if necessary.

Be careful what you wish for.

EGAD! Yes, it's a typo! I'm the world's worst typist. I'm hoping that DH's fall did NOT do more damage to his shoulder. If fact, it probably will be ok. He does olympic-style weightlifting, and is still able to lift, but with less weight. He's crazy that way. :-)

Close to 50 degrees, sun shining, and I just noticed my primroses are starting to bloom. :)

Tahoe doesn't even have snow right now. No snow on the mountain tops I see out my back yard. Some ski places are making their own.

I miss snow.

Um, NO! Not missing the snow. I still have nightmares from last year's 4'-plus of snow (I'm in northeastern CT). One day I couldn't find a road that my car could drive on; kept driving around till I finally found a route to my house. Got stuck in the road once getting into my driveway. Locked myself out while shoveling snow off the roof above my deck. No gloves, coat or cell phone. Was afraid to call to the mail lady because I didn't want her to call the police for fear it would make the news! Finally saw someone on the next street over (it's below the 20-foot cliff at the edge of my property), who called my sister for me.

Worst of all, my kitchen was being renovated during that time. I have a half-feral cat who goes crazy when he can't go out, even just to sit on the porch, during winter. One of the contractors arrived early, and scared him off, and I had to go to work. When I got back my cat wasn't around. I called and drove all around the neighborhood to no avail. Walked around, fell on the ice and smacked my head. There was a cold front and another blizzard coming in that night. The next day was beautiful, so I slid down the sideyard (I don't shovel the side) because the ice storm had packed down all the snow. Went all around the yard, finally heard him crying from my neighbor's basement in her garage). Finally got him in the house, took off my boots and couldn't understand why my socks were pink. I had cut my legs on the ice!

Also took a flying leap off my front porch steps. Whole body ached for days.

No, I don't miss snow!

Be still my heart LOL -we got a dusting this morning, that lasted about half an hour and then poof. sigh.

It is finally COLD here but no snow. Our daffodils are coming up in the back yard, and on New Year's Day I went for a walk in the neighborhood, and it was amazing to see how many lawns are still really green. We've seen people mowing.

I grew up in Buffalo, so I have had my fill of cold and snow to last a lifetime. I think they are finally getting snow, but no snow in Buffalo for Christmas. If it snows an inch here, everything closes down, which is excellent since I get a snow day.

Nope, not really missing the snow here either. But have to admit that a nice covering would be nice for the roses before the January cold sets in. It always gets cold in Wisconsin in January. Instead of snow, we keep getting rain and then have to worry about ice....that's no fun either. But... my back is rejoicing in the rest!

chardie, that is an amazing story...maybe someday, when you are old, old, old, you'll be telling your grandchildren and be able to laugh about it...or some part of it. Glad you and the kitty survived.
