What you're describing is classic symptom of obstructed dryer vent. First thing I'd do is verify that it is clear and free-flowing. Very common problem. Easy, but messy, to check and clean. I'd be surprised if the washer spin is different. I, too, have the Duet pair and in my three years have seen no difference.

No they aren't stacked. In the beginning they were quiet, not so much anymore! Sounds like an airport in here when they are in the spin cycle, and shakes the kitchen table! They are downstairs, cannot imagine them upstairs. Looking at the large Elux- 4.4 cu feet, don't know the color yet, debating between Stainless, Red, or classic White. Model number varies between colors, but ewfls70J, they are on the Electrolux website. I also saw a good review of them in this forum! I like quiet, in a house of loud children. Other than that I've had no problems with the Duets. Just remember to keep the door open after each cycle, and crack open the soap dispenser, and run the clean wash cycle every so often then you will not have smell or mold issues.

Oly, Monica - Electrolux has what they call a 2nd floor guarantee against vibrating which is one reason I opted for the brand. Our old Duet set had terrible issues with vibrating. We ended up using rubber pucks under the feet and those helped a lot. You may want to reconsider them. Unlike the older models, the doors of the newer models are way too low. I would have been on my knees to use them and I'm under 5 ft. (I think it's a scam that they essentially force buyers to buy the pedistals especially when you consider the additional cost). Funky, my sister told me she's been eyeing them as well. Even at my height, it's not bad. Mimi, Chris: I got the newest 617 model. It was on sale and the price difference between this one and the 517 was marginal. I liked 617 because it actually mixes the detergents in water before sending it to the tub. Some say it's hoaky but the concept really appealed to me, especially when using bleach. Iowa - 4'11 here too and that's what I'm finding plus I also have my handy footstool I once needed to get into a higher bed we had. I love that the pedistals actually offer good storage too. Morz8 - I noticed that when I was looking for ideas to build these in. It's an appealing look but the permanent height and width constraints have made me reconsider. The doors of our older models were tall enough that I never even thought about having the pedistals. Now I don't know how anyone can use the new machines without them, it looks back breaking. Hhireno, yes, building a platform is definately an option. One thing I want to note for anyone anticipating a purchase is that while the big box stores will charge 249.00/ea for the pedistals, the smaller privately owned dealer in your area may be willing to negotiate. Our local dealer worked out a deal for us that essentially gave us the pedistals for free. Electrolux was running a sale (and maybe still is) that offered a $100 rebate on each machine. I think what happened is that the dealer used that rebate to cover their cost for the pedistals and we got the set w/the pedistals for 1877.00 including tax and delivery. So I'd encourage anyone in the market for a new appliance, to at least try a locally owned store. Our store also had a 369.00, 5 year warranty package (through Electrolux) and will refund 1/2 of the cost if the warranty is never used. We got that as well. Another thing I had never considered is that the smaller dealers have an Electrolux rep they work with directly so unlike with the big box stores, if any issues do arise, we have a direct liason with the company.
