Anyone tried new stackable LGS with adaptable controls

LG is now offering a stackable washer and dryer, with the option of locating the controls for the dryer on the bottom. Great idea for short people like me. Has anyone tried them yet? Or does anyone have some opinions on LG washers and dryers generally? I'm really interested in this, but a little nervous that it's so new. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I just bought the set today (the LG wm2487hwm) washer. I love them. I hope I can say that in 10 years. I haven't seen the ones you say. My models stack one on top of another but having the controls at the bottom? I haven't seen them.

I am starting now my first raised bed as HugelKultur. Old rotten wood on the bottom. I have a few questions. This is the first time I am building a Raised Bed. 18 inches deep with a wooden base. It's 4 inches off the ground and air is circulating it. Trying to avoid roots of two trees on each side. Other dimensions are 7 feet and 3 feet. I liked the Idea of Hugel Bed gardening. (Reasons Explained Below.) To minimize the nitrogen draw down I know I need to add supplemental material. I don't know what to add. Let me Tell you what I have access to. Can you please be nice enough to tell me what to use in what order. I have access to 1 year composted mixed vegetarian animal manure. Composted mulch. city provided free. Hay with no seeds in in. 70% Top Soil 30% Manure Compost mix Why did I decide to go with Hugelkultur? I live in southern California we have drought and published articles on Hugelkultur claimed that the wood or log that forms the base help to retain water during wet months; then release water during dry months. You, John Cunliffe, harbor a very dangerous attitude. Apparently you knowledge of ecology is not only lacking, it's completely non-existent. I suggest you look up the meaning of terms like "monoculture" and "trophic cascades" and you very much need to look into how seriously detrimental invasive weeds are entire ecosystems, resulting in a loss of insect and animal habitat and causing decline of species in these areas. Plants like orange hawkweed destroying native plant communities is not in any way, shape, or form mother natures attempt to spread a species. Introduction of exotic plants is completely a side effect of human activity, either by accident or on purpose. "I wonder if someone was seed bombing the neighborhood... not big deal if they did, after all have done it many a times my self with wild flower seed bombs." If your are knowingly and purposefully spreading invasive species into wild areas, you deserve to be at least cited, if not prosecuted.

No. I haven't seen them. I just received my set today. (lgwm2487hwm). They are stackable. I would like to know how much detergent should I put for my loads.

Found them on LG's website (WM2496H washer, DLE9577 dryer). Moving the controls to easier reach seems to be a great idea. When I was looking for my latest set, I was interested in the Speed Queen stack for that very reason. Local Best Buy doesn't have them in the store, but they are available as a special order. Home Depot has them on their website, I may stop by on the way home to see if they have it on the floor to see for myself.

At this point, I think that you have to get the matching set (model numbers above) - I don't think that the dryer will stack on any other LG washers. Will have to call LG cust service to see if that is true.

I'm curious why they seem to be such a mystery - according to the DOE energy star website, they've been out since November, so you'd think someone would know about them (and a store like Best Buy would stock them).

Update: Since I found the LG with adaptable controls online, I went to see them at a store (not a chain, but a local appliance store). The controls are great, but for my height, 5'3", the dryer opening was too high. I could not reach to the back of the dryer. Nearby was Frigidaire's top model, which was overall at a lower height. The controls were on top but were easy for me to reach, and the dryer opening was easy to reach too. The LG had much bigger capacity, the salesman has gotten terrific reviews from customers, and he also thought that it would be somewhat less noisy than the Frigidaire. However, he also gets good reports on the Frigidaire, and since this is a second floor laundry just for clothes (no sheets or towels) he recommended that I get the Frigidaire. Glad I looked at them instead of just ordering online.

My wife had the same comment - we don't need the huge capacity of the LG's, and the accessible controls don't overcome the height of the dryer opening. We're going to look at the Affinity sometime this weekend. They seem a lot less imposing stacked. We'll see if the ergonomics work for us. From what I can see, the LG's are 6'6" stacked (39" for each unit) vs 6'0" for the Frigidaire (36" for each unit). That should put the dryer door at the right height.
