I have the full size Kenmore HE 3t front loading washer and dryer. a.k.a. the Whirlpool Duet. You can purchase an extra drawer base that goes on the bottom and raises the units up to an easier height. These units can also be stacked but without the base pieces. We bought these for many reasons, but one was that we had the option of stacking them if need be and still have full size appliances. We've had them for 2 years and I love them. I don't know how much space you have but obviously you'll need to take measurements no matter what you buy.

Found them on LG's website (WM2496H washer, DLE9577 dryer). Moving the controls to easier reach seems to be a great idea. When I was looking for my latest set, I was interested in the Speed Queen stack for that very reason. Local Best Buy doesn't have them in the store, but they are available as a special order. Home Depot has them on their website, I may stop by on the way home to see if they have it on the floor to see for myself. At this point, I think that you have to get the matching set (model numbers above) - I don't think that the dryer will stack on any other LG washers. Will have to call LG cust service to see if that is true. I'm curious why they seem to be such a mystery - according to the DOE energy star website, they've been out since November, so you'd think someone would know about them (and a store like Best Buy would stock them).

Boop, I did the same thing when my washer headed south. Just can't figure out how to get things clean with LG. After reading more reviews than is the norm, we are all having the same problems. LG seems to refuse to address them. The suggestion to keep the washer door open is ludicrous. Are you finding any specific option that works better than the others. I tried the Sanitary just the other day and was floored the timing was close to 2 hours. I haven't tried programming a cycle just for what I want. The reason I bought these was LG had the option to change the controls from top to bottom which makes it far easier to get to controls when stacked. So my dryer has the controls just above the washer. No issues with the dryer, it is great. If I thought the dryer could be attached on top of another brand, I'd admit to a mistake and buy a different washer.

I currently have a set of Duet HT that are stacked and really like them. However based on the performance of my parents new Speed Queen's, when my Duets give up the ghost this is what will be replacing them: http://www.speedqueen.com/products/stacked-washer-dryers.aspx?mn=ATEE9AGP173TW01#build-your-own The things are whisper quiet on the spin cycle and even though I have the duet HT with the high speed spin, my clothes are rarely stuck to the inside of the drum as regularly as with the Speed Queens on high speed. For the stuff that tolerates high spin speed that cuts down on the drying time too.
