What's for dinner tonight?

I'm finally making that white pizza. I'm using parts of two recipes so who knows what will happen? If I'm not back later, please call 911 ;-)

Down by the farmers market and, YEP, 7 layer salad, and smoked sausage with sauerkraut.

I am 1/4 Irish. For dinner tonight I made boiled dinner made with beef roast, potatoes, onions, celery, carrots, beets, rutabegas, and cabbage. It was delicious! We topped that off with Blarney Stones for desert. When I make things like this, I always over estimate the amount of EVERY veggie. We have enough left over for a re-heat meal and then a soup to follow that. I'm so glad DH enjoys this kind of meal, because it is what I grew up on. I made Pasta Puttanesca again. I made it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and has become our favourite way of eating spaghetti. Made apple crostata for dessert. I think I'll buy a little ham that is still on sale...all this talk about ham, has got me wanting one! ......that is, unless someone wants to invite us over for leftovers?

I hope you ladies don't think I am crazy but last night Jan set out a pack of pork chops to thaw. As it neared supper time Jan was busy doing something so I decided I would cook supper tonight. I thought about frying them, but that was too much grease, then I thought about grilling them but the grille is out of gas so I opted to bake the chops. I began by making my own shake & bake type rub. 1/4cup white flour 1/4cup Italian flavored bread crumbs 1 TBS course ground black pepper 1 Tsp Curry Powder 1/2Tsp Garlic powder 1/2 Tsp chilli powder 1Tsp granulated sugar Put all that in a bag, mixed thoroughly, then I brushed the chops with Canola Oil and put in the bag one at a time to coat with the rub and place on a baking sheet. Mixed up a pan of Jiffy cornbread mix and put that in a bag and preheated the oven to 400 for the cornbread. Tossed both the corn bread and chops in the preheated oven for the prescribed 18 minutes for the cornbread, and I figured I would keep an eye on the chops till they browned nicely. Success, they took 22 minutes to cook. While they were baking I took a can of baby limas and a can of whole kernal corn, drained them and mixed in a pan, covered with milk, added a few pats of butter and put them on to low simmer, avoiding a scald on the milk. At about 10 minutes they were nicely heated so I mixed 1/2tsp of cornstarch in cold water and added that to thicken the broth to make succotasch. Baked a couple small potatoes in the nuke and made us each a small side salad of iceburg lettuce, leaf lettuce, cucumber slices, green pepper, onion and tomato wedges. (vinegar & oil on mine). For dessert I mixed two cups of bisquick with a bit of sugar added and just layed it out in one big piece on a cookie sheet and baked it about 2" thick. Chopped up a quart of fresh strawberries, added some sugar and laddled that over 3x3" squares of the bisquick cake for strawberry shortcake. Finished off with plenty of black coffee and now I am stuffed...LOL Jan was so pleased with that stupid rub for the chops that she made me write the recipee in her book..LOL Actually, I love playing in the kitchen and someday I might even get a cookbook to see how your supposed to do it.

Last night on the coast. We're going to a little hole in the wall bar we found in the middle of some seafood processing plants. They make everything from scratch and everything is so good. We decided to have our last meal here there. We will split an order of handmade jalepeno poppers and I am going to have handmade onion rings and grilled halibut. I think hubby is planning on fish and chips. One good thing about going home is that we'll be back to consuming fewer calories, more veggies and no deep fried foods. I love anything deep fried, but I know it's not good for me or my figure. :-)

Mexican Stuffed Shells, maybe green beans with it? No lettuce in the house and it's snowing heavy with a 30mph wind. I am not going out.
I made Carmel Apple Dip and will slice some apples. It's SO good and been quite awhile since I made it. I am looking forward to dessert! ;)

Well, I am ashamed...leftovers for us. Vegetable soup and cornbread, but at least it was homemade. I have had two ladies in to help me winter clean...carpets, walls, dusty, dusty it was, plus closets and drawers and bathrooms closets drawers, and small closets. Tomorrow a break, then back to cleaning, Monday. Upstairs. and basements Tuesday.

Homemade ham and beans... really delicious on a cold, snowy night. The only problem was that I didn't have enough cornmeal in the house to make the cornbread that I would have liked to go with it.

Sounds like everyone has a happy tummy tonight. Your dinners sure sound good to me! Especially ham and beans. I really need to make some soon.

We lived through the pizza, but tomorrow night I'm going to put some pineapple on it and extra cheese to go with the chicken, green onion, basil and cheese on it now. It just needed something and I tried red pepper, but that wasn't it. I think the pineapple will work well.

Busy all day...DH suggested California Kitchen, and we had salads. He had the Oriental chicken and I had the hot roasted vegetable. We split a Tiramisu for dessert.

We went to the club tonight to finish up our minimum. We had dinner with two widow friends. It was very enjoyable. I had Barley and mushroom soup followed by Mahi Mahi served over polenta with asparagus and summer squash. I also downed to sunrise martinis........... yumo. For some one who rarely consumes alcohol and almost never hard liquor, I held up pretty good. (I think)

Left overs from Thursday. Unrolled Cabbage Rolls. Even better the second time around. Also had sliced tomatoes and cukes, and Doritos.

I forgot to eat supper/dinner tonight have to rummage around I did have a breakfast croissant around 3 does that count??

We are in Jacksonville, Florida. Our Goddaughter and her husband took us out to a Lebonese restaurant for dinner. I had some sort of salad that was wonderful. Also had appetizers that were so good. They are vegan so I had what Leslie had and really enjoyed it. Mike had something with lamb and said it was delicious.

Leslie and Tom go to this restaurant quite often. We declined dessert and sat talking for a little while longer. The owner sent us over complimentary dessert and it was sooo good.

The owner was the one who seated us and came over several times to be sure everything was to our satisfaction. Maybe we will go there for dinner again tomorrow night and we will pick up the check.
