Top load, non-HE, warm rinse, large capacity Whirlpool washer?

I had specified a Whirlpool Cabrio washer that looks like it is discontinued. Can anybody here help me find the right new model Whirlpool?

I am looking for a top-loader with agitator (not HE), that has warm rinse as a possibility (usually only comes with warm wash -- the feds may have done that). I think the one I wanted had a soak cycle, which we use a lot. I need least 4 cu.ft. capacity, too.

If you know which model Whirlpool this must be, please let me know. It's taking forever to page through the online owner's manuals.

So, top load, agitator not HE, warm rinse, hopefully a soak cycle, large capacity?

I think you will be hard pressed to find a traditional whirlpool toploader that will rinse in warm. You can call or email Whirpool and ask them. With all the new energy regulations in effect, I dont think they do it anymore. I too like warm rinses

There are some top loaders that you can still select water levels and temperatures with. I had ordered the Whirlpool model (with agitater) that you can still do all this with. I honestly can't remeber on the rinse, and it is only 3.5 cubic feet. The model number has the numbers 5300 in it. That may help with researching it on the Whirlpool website. Lowe's carries it. It is very highly recommended by them.

However, we found out we can purchase a new motor for my Duet for $150, so will probably cancel my top loader order for the time being.

I'd go with the Kenmore, but upgrade to built-in heater. We just bought one to replace our old LG front loader, which died a horrible "tub seal death" but which had performed admirably for 7+ years. We loved that washer, and I really felt it would be difficult at best to replace it. It was a champ, washing delicates and dog beds, sanitizing stuff in our household when we had 2 cancer patients in residence, cleaning things that had to be hand washed. It did all of this well -- and significantly reduced our water and utility bills. The only time we had "mold issues" was when I used Costco detergent. Enter the kenmore 29272. I'm in love. The only downside I've found to this washer, for me (a short person) is that it can sometimes be difficult to get that stray sock that ends up at the far side of the tub. But for our needs, this washer is just about perfect, or as close as we were going to get with current options. It doesn't vibrate our house, it can handle GIANT loads of towels, clothes, dog beds, rugs...and it's done really well with hand wash delicates as well. It's quiet and mostly very intuitive. I'd highly recommend you consider upgrading your choices to this one. We found ours on sale at Sears (see my earlier posts) for not much more than the link you provided lists for the Kenmore without the heater. And they threw in free delivery. This is an old post, but I have this same washer and we have figured out how to run loads that need more water and straight hot water. It's a little bit of work, but for the size of the tub and other features of this washer that we like, we think it's worth it. Here are the steps we go thru for towels (or anything we think needs more water and hot water straight from the tap): 1) Place towels in tub. Do not add soap or bleach. 2) Turn to towel setting, cold water and let fill up just enough until towels are soaked. 3) Put on Spin only and wait until water drains out, then stop it. Don't let it spin the towels dry - just enough for water to stop pumping out of drain and where you don't hear any water still sloshing in or under the tub. 4) Turn off the machine and wait 30 seconds. While waiting, add soap and bleach if desired. 5) Turn on machine, set to Sanitary. Push Start. Since the towels are now wet, they are heavier, so the machine will fill it with more straight hot water. Once the level of water is reached and the machine starts agitating, wait about 5 minutes. 6) Pause machine, change cycle to Towels, Hot water and whatever other settings you want. Push start. The water level will be maintained and the wash will be hot. Sometimes, if it isn't a lot of towels, once you switch it over to towels, it may add more cold water. I haven't had it do this if I let the sanitary wash for at least 5 minutes before changing the cycle. I do large loads though, so there really isn't much room to add more water anyway. We only have to mess it with when we want tap hot water. I have never washed an entire load on sanitary where it heats up the water. Mainly because our hot water is hot enough and I also don't want to wait 2+ hours. Hope this helps the OP or anyone else that has this washer. We have been very happy with our so far. My MIL has the SQ, but says it agitates too fast for her delicates. Other than that, she loves it.

After speaking to my repair wizard Bill, it is the switch, whatever that is, which is gone (so it won't drain or spin). I have a lot of reasons for wanting to "not fix". First, the machine is older and I have used the heck out of it, so I am concerned at putting in $200 on a machine that may not have a much longer lifetime. I don't particularly like it, in spite of the fact it has been a workhorse. Principally, the dang bleach cup is right where you lean into it, unload the wash, and it is easy to drip bleach into the clothes as you fill the cup. Also, by current standards, it does a mediocre job of spinning out the water. This puts a lot of stress on my even more elderly dryer, which Bill warned me was on its last legs two years ago! I also am self indulgent enough to want to work (daily) with a really lovely machine. That is silly, I know, but it is nice to have nice, shiny, beautiful things. Finally, I realized if I went to a front loader, I could use the tops of the machines as a folding surface, something I do not have now...everything ends up on the floor in front of the dryer, which happens to be where the door to the garage is. Yes, my laundry room is teensy and poorly designed!! Bill recommended the Whirlpool WFW9400SW...he has one himself and they like it and he has sold many and has had really good feedback from customers.

Did you hear the squeak squeak. It came back. I'm wondering if the cabinet is rubbing on the frame. I don't know. Sometimes the agitation is really loud like clunk clunk clunk. But when the sears guy took the cabinet off and had it running it was quite. I think because the cabinet has no insulation that it makes the noises twice as loud. I'm just gonna leave it alone for now and just mention to sear when they come on the 26th about the neutral drain, spin drain problem and see what they say! At least it's washing and I should enjoy it. Although the water level temp has now broken completely and just turns inside the panel. So I've had to leave it on the super wash for now.

Not many machines nowadays provide a warm rinse choice. I suspect that the majority of machines that do offer it do so via ATC and reduce the warm rinse to a low target temperature such as 75Â°F. I have a 10-years-old Kenmore 90 toploader with three ATC choices on the temp control. Warm/Warm is labeled as 100Â°F wash / 75Â°F rinse. ATC Cold/Cold is labeled 70Â°F. That was 10 years ago when ATC was an option rather than an energy mandate.

I've heard that Speed Queen agitator toploaders don't have ATC, but I don't have experience using one to confirm it.

Sandy, the WTW5300VW toploader you had selected does not offer a warm rinse per the online descriptions I found. It has four wash temps (cold, cool, warm, hot) but rinses are all cold. The cool and hot wash temps are likely ATC, if not also the warm.

Warm water rinsing machines went out the doors starting back in 1995. To find a true warm rinse feature will be hard to find because of the Gov. mandates on all MFG's.. As dadoes stated, machines with warm rinses are dumb down to use hot water during the fall through the spring because of the incoming cold water, during the summer months the cold water is warm enough not to trigger the hot water for the rinse cycle. ATC is good during the winter but lousy during the summer if you want a warm rinse.
