Q - LG Front load washer

Hi all, I just wanted to know how full should I stuff my washer with towels. My wife says that because the manulfacturer says the maximum is 16 large towels she stuffs the washer so tight I wonder if any of it is getting cleaned. I know front loads wash better with a bit more clothes but I think this is overdoing it. Any comments?

after the load is wet, it could be about half way up the door glass.

In my LG, I will stuff it full, but I don't pack it tight. Most people have seen those cheap Rubbermaid laundry baskets that are a little over knee-high. I can stuff one of those with clothes and the whole thing will fit in the washer.

When the clothes are thoroughly wet, they will be about half-way up the glass in the door. Any more and there just won't be as much movement between the clothes to actually clean them. This is especially true of large items.

She posted a vid in Jan too showing it clearly pouring out of the dispenser drawer. I can't believe she continues to use it leaking that much water. I sure looks like a problem with the drawer. Don't just assume that the hoses are wrong, examine the situation to confirm it. Pull the machine forward enough to get access behind it and follow either one of the hoses from the machine to the supply tap. There should be labels of some ilk to identify which is the Hot and Cold connection ports. If they're connected wrong, simply shut off the faucets, disconnect and reconnect both hoses (at either only the faucet end or only the machine end) correctly, turn the faucets back on. It's no more complicated than disconnecting/reconnecting a garden hose from an outdoor faucet. There'll be a little water leakage from residual pressure in the hoses when they're disconnected so have a towel ready to catch it.

I read lots of both professional and personal reviews before buying any appliance. The professional reviews, like those done by Consumer Reports, compare new machines and give pros and cons. The personal reviews can provide extra detail, but too many are either "works great" or "worst ever" with no detail as to why they love it or hate it. Having said that, I have had my LG washer for several years and am very happy with it. On some loads the machine shakes during spin, but that's rare and minor. Mold is a continuing threat, so I leave my washer door open for a couple of hours after a load, and you do have to perform cleanings regularly. The thing I most like about this washer is the delightful tune it plays at the end of the wash. My washer is 4.0 cubic ft which does a queen set of sheets and four pillowcases, or the queen quilt or spread easily. However, a twin size comforter can be too much for it. So buy the largest size you can afford if you don't want to have to take stuff to the laundry.

I put enough in my LG so that I can still put two fists easily in the back of the tub. I cannot imagine my towels getting clean if it was "packed " with 16. FWIW, I have put 12 towels in mine and they vary from the 30x60 to the 28x50 size. G
