My new LG washer arrived...
Comments (35)I ordered an LG w/d set from Costco.com---washer is 3670 in white and dryer is DLEX3370--this washer has the EXTRA WATER feature for wash and EXTRA RINSE feature---you can get both to work on same cycle if you pause during rinse feature and add Extra Rinse... They have been installed and used for past couple of weeks in our FL/seasonal home. We have PEX piping and there is some water hammer effect--mainly when I use the HOT water wash feature--maybe notice it more because the water heater is in garage and wall of the den where we spend most time is right behind water heater--and laundry room is down hall from den--not across house from it. So far they both work well...I have done some heavy loads of towels (beach and bath), King sz cotton coverlet, bath rugs...there were times when I had to pause the cycle and rearrange the load trying to get it to spin better. I used the SLOW spin for some of those and went back afterward and added another spin on MEDIUM after cycle was done... The loads I have done have come out clean--but we are not into hard exercise and didn't have anything really dirty or sweaty--and no kids. The PERM PRESS cycle and SPEED cycle for regular clothes seems to work equally well...I have used TOWELS, Bright Whites, Heavy/bulky (for quilt and rugs), Delicates as well---have not used the Sanitize ones yet. I have used the ADD WATER feature on wash cycle and when the cycle moved to rinse have paused and added an extra RINSE extending the cycle time. One thing I have noticed is that with heavy items adding more water to wash cycle above what the machine calculates adds more weight which can be a negative for the spin cycles...maybe making load off balance more than the regular amount. And clothes do seem to finish pretty tangled no matter if I add extra water or extra rinse---I usually have load of perm press type clothing that is more than half the washer so maybe not running a "big" load". The dryer works well but I miss having a tumble cycle that takes out wrinkles if I come later--or maybe there is one to extend tumble but I haven't read the instruction book to see how to trigger it...Sometimes towels seem a little damp after their normal cycle if there was very full load...and have had to add time... So far am pleased--it doesn't seem much more noisy than the GE we replaced-Can be very quiet depending on the number of rinses it is doing. I don't know that the dropped angle of the washer drum is that helpful to pulling out clothes...I think it is harder to dry the gasket than in the front loader GE I got rid of...I have been leaving the soap drawer open like the door---this has a magnet catch to keep door from falling open but the GE was better at leaving door ajar wider than the LG......See MoreBrand New LG4270 Will Not Balance
Comments (22)Clank? Does it spin smoothly empty? I wouldn,t be overly concerned comparing the ten year old duet to the LG. Duet was belt driven and the LG is direct drive, two different beasts. IMHO there could be a variety of noises depending on the load, and how its balanced. Two defective machines is concerning, but that boat takes a long time coming over here from China. Lots can happen. Lol!...See MoreQuestion re: LG4270
Comments (34)Can anyone tell me if the Turbowash is hard on clothes? I'd like to replace a 10+ year old whirlpool front load washer and matching dryer that came with the house I recently purchased because I can't seem to completely get the musty smell out nor all the moldy residue out of the gasket and detergent compartment. I'm pretty excited to get a model to combine with the LG sidekick because my daughter's clothes make pretty small loads and I'd love to be able to do 2 loads at once. But then I read that loads can frequently take 90-120 minutes in the newer front loaders. That's crazy! My current washer takes about an hour with an extra rinse. I thought an upgrade was going to improve my efficiency, not the opposite. Turbowash sounds like it helps but it sounds like it might be harsh on clothes with this high powered water spray that is described. If anyone could please share their personal experience, I would appreciate it. Thanks!...See MoreLG or Maytage. Which Front Load Washer/Dryer should I buy?
Comments (4)I read lots of both professional and personal reviews before buying any appliance. The professional reviews, like those done by Consumer Reports, compare new machines and give pros and cons. The personal reviews can provide extra detail, but too many are either "works great" or "worst ever" with no detail as to why they love it or hate it. Having said that, I have had my LG washer for several years and am very happy with it. On some loads the machine shakes during spin, but that's rare and minor. Mold is a continuing threat, so I leave my washer door open for a couple of hours after a load, and you do have to perform cleanings regularly. The thing I most like about this washer is the delightful tune it plays at the end of the wash. My washer is 4.0 cubic ft which does a queen set of sheets and four pillowcases, or the queen quilt or spread easily. However, a twin size comforter can be too much for it. So buy the largest size you can afford if you don't want to have to take stuff to the laundry....See Moreizeve
