We once receive an invitation to a wedding reception, and it left out the location of the reception. It was a very, very ornate, over the top, invitation, too. There was no contact information. Luckily, the groom knew how to get in touch with us (we had lost touch with him over the years), and called to find out if we could come. That's when we were able to get the info on when and where to show up.

Still, it's better than my current boss, whose invitations were printed to read "the son of XXXXX and the late XXXX S." Wouldn't have been bad except that his Dad was still alive. (grin)

Well, as a former editor, I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't find the typo till my second reading (but I did better than you, Lisa and Ann!) Oh, and I would have used an ampersand (&) for the first "Mr. & Mrs." for consistency of style. But I'm sure that most of the invited folks will sail right past the mistake, and the rest will just smile and shake their heads, figuring that Annie was up to some mischief. Anyway, the typo certainly makes the invitation distinctive, and I know it will be treasured by the bride and groom.

Annie, I wish Ashley and Kevin a lifetime of happiness together! And I wish you and Elery a peaceful recuperation after White Cloud's first-ever "social event."

Nope, they didn't, Ellen. Amanda's were printed by David's sister, Deanne, and I never even saw them until after most had been mailed.

Ashley did her own, LOL, we're cheap. We don't "use" anyone, we just do it ourselves with the wonder of today's computers. Deanne is "crafty" and has a cricut, so she did the fancier ones for Amanda. Ashley's was just printed on white card stock, exactly as you see it. I told her if she was REALLY fancy, she'd punch two holes in the top and tie a black ribbon bow to it. She told me I was "nuts"......

So, the Mrs. and Mrs. wasn't MY typo, it was Ashley's and I'll bet no one is ever going to let her forget it, LOL.

Colleen, you are right, I would have spelled it "honor" but the program that Ashley was using didn't have that part of the invitation "editable", so that's the way it had to stay. Also the "and/&", already permanently in there and the program didn't allow any changes on that part.

the shower was as good as shower go, I cooked all day Friday for 40 people, the food was good, we had leftovers. Ashley got a crockpot and a matching cookbook because everyone knows she hates to cook. We keep trying to convince her how easy it is to throw something in the crockpot....

We played "Famous Couples", where you name one half of a couple and everyone names the other half. We had four generations so Makayla is asking "Who is John Lennon?" and Savannah is asking "Who is Rhett Butler" and my Aunt Ellen is asking "Who is Brad Pitt?". LOL

Then we played "Honey Do", which was my revenge on Ashley because she had to answer the questions. List of chores and everyone guesses who does what. Kevin will do laundry because he wants it done a "certain way". Neither cooks, so they will do a lot of take out until they get tired of it and realize how expensive it is. Kevin does all computer and electronics, like me, Ashley hates them. Ashley will mow the lawn. So, after all the guests got to tease her about her cooking and Kevin doing the laundry, she said "I don't like this game". Aw, too bad.....

David, I have every reason to believe that the DJ will stay dry and that most guests will remain safely un-assaulted. (grin)

Annie, if I had read this sooner, I would have suggested you all play what we fondly call "Butt Quarters". Each player has to hold a quarter between their butt cheeks and try to drop it in a mason jar on the floor.

It's a hoot when you are serving spiked punch!

I wish I could make it too - I keep finding more reasons to visit Michigan!! I'm sure I'll be amazed once I get there. I almost changed planes in Detroit once but went through Minneapolis instead on an earlier flight. I'm unable to see the invitation at work, and I haven't had time at home to be on the computer much, since I spend a lot of time trying to work in the garden at this time of year.

I wish Ashley and Kevin all the best and also wish them a long and happy life together. I'm not sure when the wedding is however, but it looks like this will be a busy month, what with your birthday coming up, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and possibly Judgement Day next week, which fortunately would be on the same day as AFD (to save time).

I'm amazed at how you can stay on top of everything and also impressed that you printed your own invitations. I probably would have done the same.

Fine by me, I'll have wedding food out of the freezer on time to put produce in!

Lars, I thin you'd like Michigan, really I do. You could see Lake Michigan, which you tell me looks like the surf in Galveston and you'd love Saugatuck and, I think, Ann Arbor, and I also think those places would love you. I know I'd love to have you come here!

Oh, and Judgment Day? That's Saturday, the 21st. Same day as Ashley's wedding. I sure hope it can wait until after we eat, I'd hate to have rolled 700 cannelloni for nothing. :-)
