Lemonade Pie

1 can Eagle Brand canned milk
1 6oz can frozen lemonade
8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed
1 graham cracker crust

Mix milk and lemonade til thick, add in Cool Whip and mix well. Pour into crust and chill.

I remember the cake walks for Halloween elementary school parties.

I don't remember pie suppers, but I do remember cake walks. It was quite a thrill to pay 10cents and win a half a cake, all for myself.......of course when you were the one who won, you always had at least 2 or 3 new best friends.

I remember Box Suppers. During the depression (the 1930 one!) we had these about once a year. Girls would take a box, decorated usually with crepe paper ruffles, filled with food. These would be auctioned off and then the bidder and the girl would eat supper together. We put all sorts of food in the boxes, sandwiches, cake, cookies, fruit, etc. One of our favorite sandwiches was a ring of pineapple on bread spread with mayo. And there would be ham, etc. My pineapple sandwiches were always soggy. But some smitten youth would always buy the box.

I remember our rural school had a doll/pie social. My mother made each of us a Pilgrim doll (must have been around Thanksgiving, I guess)and the pie to go with it. Dolls were just great....I would love to have one now. I'm sure the pies were good, as her pastry was always very tender.

Pie suppers sound vaguely familiar, but can't remember exactly why. Also been to many Cakewalks.

Box suppers: I definitely remember my DM telling us about those and they were just as Rosebudms described. Well, maybe not the squishy pineapple sandwiches. Except it would have been prior to 1902, because that is when my parents were married. Those Box Suppers must have worked!

I grew up in CA and never heard the word "supper", much less a pie supper.

I remember at Halloween school cake walk, they would play music as you stepped on big squares and the one that stopped on a certain square got the cake.

I've heard of pie suppers, but wasn't sure what they were. We used to do the cake walks when I was in elementary school.

My family loves Earthquake cake. The basic recipe is in the link below. I substitute Devil's food for the German chocolate cake mix. I cut the butter in half and only use 1 cup of powdered sugar.

I would probably cut the cake into pieces and stack them on a plate with a cello wrap tied with a ribbon to make it look a little prettier.

However, I just did a Google search and learned that they are still being used as fund raisers and social events in the Ozarks, as one example.

Oh yes! I have heard about 'pie suppers', except in my case, it was 'box lunch or supper' that contained a pie. The last one I attended was in the 1950's. It was a community fund raiser held at a country school. The box lunches were acutioned, one at a time, and went to the highest bidder. The young men did their best dectective work to try to discover which box belonged to their favorite girl so they could concentrate their bids on that box. Well, they got it right only about 50% of the time. The gals could hardly contain themselves during the bidding because they knew their own box and several other as well.

After the bidding was finished, the gals that belonged to the boxes walked to the winning bidder revealing who he had won to dine with. It was supposed to all in good fun, but jealousy could rear its ugly head and spoil the atmosphere. Maybe this is why it lost popularity, or becasue small, close knit, isolated, communities are a thing of the past.

Like Linda in Iowa, growing up in California, the word 'supper' wasn't in my vocabulary. I said, and still do, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Never heard of pie suppers. Sorry, don't have an easy pie recipe for you. I do prefer homemade Crisco crusts like Mama taught me to make..so flakey and pretty! :)

We grew up with supper as our evening meal, and dinner was at noon. Still is. Never had a pie supper though. We do have chili suppers around here.

Lemonade pie was one of my favorites for years. I lost the recipe and forgot if was called lemon"ade" pie. I kept googling lemon pie and never came up with the lemonade pie. Thanks for posting the lemonade pie recipe. Easy and good on a hot summer day!

Yes, I remember pie suppers. The ones I attended were usually box/pie suppers. Haven't been to one in YEARS!! and haven't heard of any being held for a long time. Today's teens would probably scoff at something like this.

Another easy pie is what I call Yogurt Pie. Really don't know what the 'true' name is.
Dissolve 1 pkg Jello in 1/4 c. boiling water (yes, only 1/4)
Stir in 1 - single serving yogurt, the same flavor as the Jello. (a whisk is great! for this)
Whisk in an 8-oz container cool whip.
Pour into grahmn cracker crust. Chill.

My favorite is lime, but peach and other flavors are good, too. I can only tolerate BlueBunny yogurt so that's what I use. I do use diet Jello & no-fat cool whip. generic Jello & CW works just fine. If you want a 'stronger' flavor, double the Jello & yogurt, but not the CW for a single pie.
