I agree. Cheese is milk which has already been "spoiled" on purpose. Another 24 hours at room temperature will have little effect.

I do this all the time, not on purpose, just because my life is so dang hectic I somtimes am just so rushed in the AM I forget to put it away, or in the PM I get so tired some days I go to bed and forget to even turn the light out in the kitchen.
Anyway, I'm still here, and have never gotten food poisoning by my own hand.

I agree, if it isn't moldy, it's fine, use it up. I kind of put it in the same class as butter, which I leave out on the counter all the time and I've never had any go bad, even in the summer heat (or what passes for summer heat here in Michigan, LOL).

LOL Lpink.. just what I was thinking. This might get the bacteria police on me but.... truthfully I've probably left cream cheese out for a week at times. I keep meaning to make the cheesecake or whatever and don't get around to it and still want it room temp so I just leave it til I get around to it. Oh yeah, I just remembered, I also sometimes keep a hunk in the livingroom for me to take my late night pills with a few crackers and that can stay in there for most of a week too.

I IASKED about leaving cream cheese out of fridge and I'm glad I did. Mine has been out for almost a week and it's not moldy and tastes fine. Thank all of you for the information.

Wow, I learned something. I panic and put it back in the frig if I never get around to using it the recipe that day. It seems that it's fine for a day or so. I'm not sure about a week though! :-)

i did same thing,.,i was going to make something and took it out of fridge yesterday morning and didnt make the dish yet..its been out 24 hours...but its still sealed so should be ok? i do leave my butter out all the time so.....makes sense that it would be ok ...

I left mine out for 24 hours I forgot about it intending to make a cheese ball. It is still in original packaging. Is it safe?
