Comments (2)I was so close to ordering that same tree. I loved it. I happened to find a beautiful tree with no lights on it that I really wanted in my town. But I was going to order a tree from Frontgate. I've purchased a lot from them and they always have been great products, so I wasn't worried about the quality. My friend ordered barstools, one came with a problem and they replaced right away. They are great to work with. If you have an Entertainment Coupon book they have a coupon for Frontgate. At least mine did. Just a thought. 15% is 15%, save that money to help with shipping. I am going to order the greenery swags for the garage carriage lights. The thing was I just happened to come across this tree without lights and I was having a hard time finding one, but I would have gotten Frontgate's tree for sure. Even with the lights. If you order it I'm sure it would be nice....See MoreChristmas tree purchase----Venting
Comments (38)I normally check out a company before I order online from them. I slipped up this time and didn't do that. I won't make the same mistake again. I'm not stupid and I really didn't expect this tree to look like a $289 tree, but I did expect that it might look like a $90-$100 tree and that I was getting a bargain, not a steal. I was willing to give the company that kind of leeway. However, any similarity berween the picture posted and the tree I received would be like my going to a dog breeder and buying a Great Dane and reality bringing home a Chihuahua. They're both dogs, but one certainly would never be mistaken for the other. Fluffed, but not transformed into a Grand Fir. The tree should have had 250 lights and 600 tips, 6' tall with a tree width of 56". I'm not seeing this in this bush. I will have to file a complaint with the BBB. I will dispute the purchase through my CCC and I will give them a F rating on Angie's list. I hope Santa leaves them a lump of coal in their stockings!!...See MoreChristmas tree deal
Comments (6)I wouldn't trust home depot any further than I can throw them. I bought potting soil there that had oil in it. I couldn't even find some one to talk to about it. Now my small plants turn brown and die. The bigger plants do okay, they must put deeper roots. I lost my phlox, most of my lilies, and other miscellaneous plants. I need to hire someone to take out the bad soil and replace it. I smelled it when I had the bags in the car, but thought it was the plastic bags. Comments (6)Maybe not if the state gets involved. They have all sorts of strategies they can take advantage of. Meanwhile, I'd get all the neighbors together and form a neighborhood or lake association and research the zoning laws. You could also go the town offices, where ever they keep records of filed permits to see if permits have been filed by either party. that's not being nosey. It is legal and enlightened self interest. The lake may be the saving grace. Get a town wetlands map and see if there are wetlands associated with the lake. Generally no development can happen with 100 ' of a wetland. I'd suggest someone 'friendly' to both parties stop by for a chat with each one and caution both of them not start building or filling or spending a cent because it is rumored the Zoning Board and Conservation Commission have taken an interest.." Well, that's obvious if the State is involved. Even if seems out of your hands, you neighbors--and especially abuttors-- should become familiar with the issues because there will be hearings where you will be allowed to speak. We had lesser issue, though not of the scope you have. The owner wanted to develop a previously undeveloped pasture with the best sunset in town. He made all sorts of "improvements" for a therapeutic horseback riding program that put up a 40 foot high white fabric indoor arena. Think gigantic quonset hut Meanwhile he paved over a small wetlands. without going through the conservation commission and made other changes without permits. A bright neighbor got us all going, and soon the conservation commission was holding hearings and the owner was slapped with a order to complete restore the wetlands &, tear up one the parking lots. the therapeutic program- as a non profit program- kept its arena because ugly is generally legal. However, they actually relocated the small wetland and it will be more sustainable and a better ecosystem than the original. The Zoning Board and Conservation Commission strongly suggested that further screening of the ugly arena would be a neighborly thing to do. The owner agreed. I encourage you and your neighbors to become more active than innocent bystanders. You have your property values at stake. Marie...See More- 13 years ago
