Do new LGs have the top sprayer?

I have a 7yo LG W/D, still going strong. But I also have our state's energy rebate, so I thought it might be a good time to upgrade.

Went to Sears this past weekend to look at the new models, but I could not find the sprayer near the top inside of the door that sprays water ON TOP of the clothes. IMHO, that is a fantastic feature and my current LGs would not get clothes very clean without it.

Do the new LGs have the top spray? is it hidden somewhere I didn't see?

When you talk about sprayer, do you mean mean when the washer fills up, or is it a recirulating sprayer for the wash water that resprays the clothes as they wash. I think new LG FL fill from the bottom of the tub, but I am not sure. When I used my friends LG, I do not recall seeing water spray the clothes when it filled up at the beginning of the wash cycle

A recirculating sprayer.

Mine fills from the bottom. Then while the clothes tumble, a recirculation sprayer sprays water on the top of the clothes.

Do the new LGs have this same recirculation sprayer?

Yes, the shaking of the pipes is due to water hammer but we have already done things to deal with it (had a similar issue with the prior washer). LG just seems to have a particular propensity for it and the fixes don't make it go away completely. I've read somewhere that the water valves close too quickly in LGs and that's the underlying cause. And the intake of water in short spurts as opposed to a steady stream seems to make it even worse. In case you're interested livebetter, we bought LG WM2301 which is the simplest model with an internal heater. I don't need all the fancy features like steam, etc. I am very happy with the washer. I use Water Plus and Extra Rinse on most cycles and the laundry comes out clean and well rinsed. Extra hot water does wonders for my towels and sheets. Whites come out nice and bright when washed on sanitary with a tbs of oxygen bleach in addition to detergent. The only complaint I have is spinning speed. I think it's slower than my old Duet Sport. The machine is much more stable and less shaky but I think the laundry comes out with a bit more water in it than from my old Duet. But the matching dryer seems to deal with it with no problem. The washer has 4.2 capacity but it does best with medium loads (the drum filled to about 3/4 when dry). I managed to overload it once (a large load of towels and other heavy items) and it had a problem spinning. But it handled our thick king size mattress pad with no problem. So overall, I'm very very pleased so far.

gwarstong: We first thought it was one of the hoses to the faucets (no... we are guilty... we don't turn off the faucets after each use!) but when turned off ... still major water on the floor. Watched to make sure the hose in the drain wasn't overflowing. When machine empty, all faucets turned off. still more water on the floor & more even after repeated mopping. Seems water is stored somewnere after everything turned off & leaking out over a long period of time! Oh, my Iowa grandmother got her first 'elect.' washing machine ... a Maytag with ? gas engine & those rubber wringers that had an affinity for clamping on to fingers!! Our family has ever since always had Maytags until a few years ago we got a 'lemon' & then switched to Sear's Kenmore (but who made them for Sear's??!!). Yes, the Home Depot saleman did say his mother had an LG with balance problem a couple years back but was fixed w/magnets. Brands any more don't know really tell you who makes them now so Maytag of years ago may only be the name now... not the mfg. I know people laugh at Consumer;s Guide recommendations but at least it is some sort of guide for a consumer! Now wonder why the center agitator seems to be 'history' now in the more $$ washers? Hope the LG turns out to be another 17 yr. washer investment at least!

"Cleans just as well, far less likely to have problems." Nunyabiz1, can you tell the OP how you know it cleans just as well? You've never owned a FL machine before. @twray, I have no personal experience with LG - although the LG WM3885 was my runner up choice when I purchased earlier this year (and I researched for approx 9 months). I went with the Miele W4842/T9822. My parents own the LG2140 and love them. I think between the two you are considering they "might" perform similar. FWIW, the 3360 didn't rank very high on CR for performance. Not all machines are created equal. Having said that it seemed to have good reviews. I started using FL machines almost 11 years ago and would never go back to any TL format. I have a preference for FL machines. For the most part they clean and rinse better than other options. They are also more gentle on your clothes (CR ranks the 5101 as "fair" for gentleness). I personally would never consider an HE TL. One only needs to consider "how" the laundry is moved through the drum to understand how it might be less gentle on items than FL. However, your personal preference for doing laundry should be your deciding factor here. They are two very different units. Do you have a preference for how you do laundry? Not sure if you're married to the 3360. I might consider other LG FL over that one. I'm a fan of the WM3885 although I know it costs more than the one you are considering. The WM3875 is also excellent and less $$ than the 3885. Good luck and let us know what you end up with and how you like it!

Considering that it's only my wife and I and we don't do that many washing loads, we're very satisfied so far that the LG will meet our needs and expectations (won't know how it holds up until later). With the different cycles available and the ability to modify them to a reasonable extent, we can always pretty much match water level to something that works well on any load we would wash. On the cycles that have a high default fill we will just add enough clothes to match. No more loads than we do, the water usage is not that important to us, and we prefer the choice of using a cycle (and/or the water plus selection) that will use enough water for great results, but use very little water when it's appropriate. On the water temps, we're perfectly satisfied as well. Machine cold (not tap cold which is about 62 deg right now) 80-82 deg is fine, well above detergent performance level. Warm around 102 deg tested after fill with clothes) is fine also, and having 120-124 deg hot water available on hot without using the heater (still haven't tested on sanitize or bright whites with heater available) seems unexpectedly good on an HE washer with a hot water heater setting of 135 deg. Don't know what the future holds, but everything considered, at this point we couldn't be more pleased with both washer and dryer (particularly after reading many HE experiences folks have had). It definitely pays to learn the 'ways of operation' of your particular machine. I'm not sure though, after observing a few wash cycles, our washer even knows what it's doing half the time... but it seems to work out well. Thanks... Quinn

Yes they do. It's called RollerJetsÂ and Forced Water Circulation.

The "Forced Water Circulation" feature is gone. That was a feature on the earlier WM2277 washers and remove on later model WM2277's. I think that feature may be available on the rear control panel models. I heard it was not a big selling point so they removed it.

Does that mean that the newer LG washers do not force water through the clothing as well?

I want to keep informed about all the front load washers now. We decided it would be cost effective to go ahead and put a motor in my 5 year old Duet. When the day comes it isn't worth it to repair anymore, I want to know what products are the best out there.

Hopefully I'll see vast improvements in the reliability issues in the meantime.

My 3 year old LG 2496 has the roller jets- I have no idea if and how they work. I just never looked at them or worried about them.
The recirculator works on every cycle, it is spraying water from the top gasket area and water flows over the window.
Laundry is clean so I don't care what the machine does.
I bought the set b/c of the heater and the looks.
