Need secret cleaning code for Duet washer

No matter what I search for, I can't find the previously posted method for turning on the hidden high-temp cleaning cycle for the washer. It's used for cleaning an empty washer and was posted months ago, but I can't find it.

You set the dial to "something", then set the spin to "no spin" then pushed two buttons together for a few seconds...something like that. Anyone help me please???

I found this in a thread entitled "Duet and fabric softener", I hope it's what you're thinking of:

Try cleaning your machine after the last load of the day.
Turn on the machine. Then

1. Set the cycle to DRAIN/SPIN
2. Set the spin to NO SPIN
3. Press the PREWASH button TWICE in quick succession (you may have to try this more than once until you get the code C:0:0)

Then let it go and you will have a short cycle that is designed to clean out your machine with VERY hot water. (If you see a lot of suds in your machine during this cycle you may have to do it again because you have a buildup in your machine.)

After the cycle finishes, open the door and let it dry out. Your machine's insides will look shiny and clean. You should run this "cleaning cycle" at least several times a week. It is short and doesn't take much effort at all.

Yeah really. we have to bang, slam and slap our 1300.00 washing machines when they act up. Dear God! It is weird! Well the repair man checked the door latch thing, he took the boot off, I watched him do it and it totally looked like a pain to do. That wire thing around the boot, ugh, I mean what is that? Anyway, my washer failed to start one time since the repair. I unplugged it and plugged it back in the next day, it's worked ever since. If you had your circuit board replaced and that didn't fix the bugs, I wonder what is going on with these things? I honestly don't even think the repair people know. The first repair man that came out told me that the door latch was out, so they had to order one, I asked him what F11 was, he said thats a drain problem, that f11 only happens when the drain has too much soap from someone not using He detergent. I thought to myself thats not what I've been reading on this forum, but I didn't say anything. So the next repair man came, a differnt guy, I liked this guy better. He told me his threw an f11 on him, he said it's not necessarily a drain problem and that these machines are so complex that it could be a number of things. He told me what to do if the Duet ever stopped working and the clothes were locked in. He told me to take the boot off and there was s piece to push on the door latch and it would allow the door to open. Big hassle. I have my stacked also and they are heavy. You WILL have this problem again. Plan to waste your time from doing something else productive. The Duet sucks! I loved it at first but I must face the fact that it sucks! I have had the door problem many times having to take the bottom off and pull some latch. Then another time I had to take half the machine appart and after unplugging and replugging the all the cables to the main board and door latch everything worked but its a huge hasle. Its just broke again for the 5th time and I know that I will have to do it again. My problem is a Fdl and F14 error and to fix it yourself you must unplug and replug all the cables especially the ones going to the door latch. It may only be those cables to the door latch but I did all the cables and it began working. It's almost 10pm so I guess this is tomorrows project. Give me a break this sucks!

Heater will NOT engage in normal no matter what. I often use wrinkle free for clothes, husband's dress shirts, sometimes towels. This will not allow a max spin though. I use extra white for white sheets/towels/socks. Usually with extra warm or hot temp and sometimes extended and/or prewash. I have used custom for kids' clothes warm with a max spin speed. I have used express for bathing suits/towels after a day of swimming. A little Vaska on express and everything is fresh for the next day. These items don't really need to be washed daily so express is great (30 minutes). I have used delicates/hand wash for ... well delicate items. This setting works great. More soaking less tumbling. I have used woolens for wool sweaters also great. I LOVE the comforter setting. It will "vent" the item(s) first - wet them thoroughly before it adds the detergent. Very smart. I almost always use the sensitive setting which uses a higher spin speed between wash and rinse and uses an extra rinse. I don't like too much residual detergent smell (if possible). I've used clean machine. I used table linens a few times for table cloths - not really sure what makes that setting good for them. They turned out just fine. The only program I was not thrilled with was the dress shirts one. It only does a medium spin and left the shirts quite wet. I prefer wrinkle free for them (but that's me). I have used prewash and extended. If items are noticeably dirty I use a prewash. I have used extended if I think they need a little longer tumbling. The more agitation the better the wash. Shorter cycles are not the answer for clean items. Gosh ... have fun and keep us posted on how it's going.

buehl, Anyone who has cleaned a non-flow through, non-flushing whole house humidifier knows exactly what I'm talking about. Kind of looks like a science fair project gone astray. I know nothing about the Whirlpool (& related brands) implementation. It's possible they addressed this issue but don't know one way or the other. I looked through the service and technical training manuals for the LG steam washer and there doesn't appear to be any flushing of the steam generator. It does have a bleed-off port, but it's only meant to be manually opened if the generator needs replacement (the generator has no serviceable parts). Fans of the LG machine seem to get good results and always point it's top rating by CR. A careful read of the CR article doesn't show one way or the other if they even tested the steam feature. Often if something has a unique feature they will highlight it in a sidebar, but no such info appeared in the article. I believe CR just tests things in pretty vanilla default cycles so it's very likely the steam was never fired up in their testing. An email to CR brought no additional info. Nevertheless, the LG performed well in their tests (most likely without steam) to the extent CR testing has importance to you.

Mine (the HE2T which is like the Duet sport 8500) just has a "clean washer" button, but I'm pretty sure the directions say to run it once a month.

I just checked the manual for the Duet sport and it does say to clean monthly

FWIW.....In over two years of ownership of my Duet 9400, I've done this twice. Not at all needed either time -- just curiosity. No bubbles or residue of any kind seen during the process. The machine still looks/runs like new inside and out. I still examine the hidden crannies in the boot from time to time to see if there is any of the crud so many people are reporting. All surfaces clean every time. Makes me wonder what is happening with the machines of others -- some of them exactly the same machine I have. Remain curious.

Usually, they're using way too much detergent, never doing anything but cold and lukewarm washes, and/or keeping the door completely closed all the time.

YES. Exactly the post I was trying to remember. I knew it was a bit complicated to get the cycle, but that is the one. I had run it once before, I was not trying to eliminate any problem, just wanted to freshen the inside up after doing a wipe down with some cleaner. It made a noticeable difference in the brightness of the metal drum and it just made me feel better.

Really, The best way to clean a front loader is choose the shortest hot water cycle add 1/2 cup of Cascade powder to the dispenser and let the washer run through the whole cycle. Then see how clean and shiny it is inside.
