can you put garbage pullout under a sink?
Comments (19)badgergal, thanks for the additional pic and the model of revashelf you used. it loosk like you have framed cabinets, correct? it is indeed very tight down there, but glad that i know it can work, especially with framed cabinets! i was not sure if i should use framed, though my preferred cabinet vendor only does framed. so this gives me hope! mtnfever, thanks for the additional info on your sink setup. your sink is quite unique. i am looking forward to seeing pics of your "new" vintage sink some day! CJ, thanks for the pic of your prep sink. i want to put the garbage pullout in my prep sink as well since i anticipate this will be where most of the mess will be generated. how large is your sink and sink cabinet?...See MorePull out trash (again!)
Comments (7)Thanks benjesbride. I have a tip out now, and do like it, I'm sure it's a possibility, and I will consider it if the shorter pullout door is the better option. raee, that's why I posted! I don't know why it would matter that the door is quite a bit taller than the top of the trash. I wonder what he knows that I don't! Carrie, I was looking at yours earlier because I remember you wanted something larger. By the way, what did you end up with? lisapoi, I also am looking to get the tallest bin possible - and in my case it is approximately 18" tall. Above that, is my 10" sink plus the shelf that supports it. My issue is looks..... as long as it functions! My preference in this case is not to have the faux drawer or panel above the pullout only because I think the area will look less busy. It is one of the only times that I am looking at the aesthetics of the kitchen. But, this is the 2nd time that my cabinetmaker has warned me about the excess door height over the trash. Would you care if the pullout door didn't correspond to the trash bin size? If there are no concerns, I won't worry about it!!...See MoreHacking IKEA cab for trash pullout
Comments (18)I'm going to add this to the Read Me thread - it will help others who want to do the same and with the keenly felt loss of IKEAFans for such things, we need to try to keep this type of information available. Or, and I just had this thought, why don't we start a thread that keeps track of IKEA hacks - sort of a "hack repository thread"? What do you think? If each person with a "hack" documents it in a thread with details like Beachem has above, we can then put links to those threads in the "hack repository thread" with a brief description of the hack. I can start the repository thread with an intro as to the purpose of the thread and then others can add their links. . Thoughts?
