How long does it take a jade to look like a little tree???
Comments (26)Hello! I'm sorry. I admit I got too desperate. And thank you for the reply (: I'm new here so no idea how this place works. I thought probably I was never going to get a response. Yes the soil doesn't look right to me either. My gardener potted it in that. The soil is water retaining and fine-grained. And yes, the pot has got drain holes, and I keep emptying the water tray. I'll change the soil, and repot it. And what sort of pot should I use? The current one is a plastic one. Should I replace it with a clay one when I repot it? And is the pot size okay or should I get a bigger one? Thank you so much! Was really helpful! ^_^ P.S: I live in India. And hey, I'm also worried about those white marks you see on the leaf surface. Are they water marks or some disease?...See Moreon demand hot water - how long does it take to get hot water?
Comments (3)The time it takes for the hot water to get to your faucets or shower is related to the distance the water has to travel from the hot water source to the sink and the diameter of the hot water building supply pipe (typically 3/4 inch) as well as the feeder pipe to the sink (typically 1/2 inch). A 3/4 inch pipe holds about 8 ounces of water for every 3 feet of pipe. So if your tank (or tankless) unit is 90 feet away from a faucet, you would have to push out about 1.8 gallons of cold water (plus whatever water is in the feeder pipe, a 6 foot section of 1/2 inch pipe holds about 8 ounces of water) before the hot flows. A typical sink faucet will run at 1.5 gallons per minute maximum flow rate - so you are looking at over 1 minute to get hot water in this scenario. With tankless units, there is also a small delay between the time the unit senses water flowing through it (which triggers it to fire) and the time the unit heats the water up to the set temperature. There are 3 ways you can eliminate the long delay. The first is to put a hot water source (tank or tankless unit) closer to the sinks that are far away from the current source. The second way is to use point of use hot water generators under key sinks that you use. These POU units are very small tanks or tankless units designed to service just once sink. The last method is to install a recirculating loop where you constantly circulate hot water through the hot water building supply. I have a Rinnai tankless system that we installed in the basement directly below the master bathroom. From the time I turn on a shower or sink, hot water is flowing within 10 seconds. That was the good news. The bad news was that the kitchen sink and 3 other sinks that we use often are over 120 feet away from the Rinnai tankless units. Just before we finished the house, we discovered that it was taking several minutes to get hot water at the kitchen sink - and that was unacceptable to us. I wound up installing a recirculting loop. This was not the way I would have preferred to do it, but space and venting in the basement on that side of the house was an issue. You could just live with the delay you have - 1 minute isn't that bad. If you decide to fix the delay, I recommend posting some details on the plumbing forum and seeking advice on how best to correct....See MoreNew Furnace.. A/C Won't Cool House
Comments (11)Tigerdunes I received information today in the mail. I guess this is their way of saying we are done......This is what it says.... AHRI Certified Reference Number 3130605 Product: Split System: Air-Cooled Condensing Unit, Coil Alone Outdoor Unit Model Number: XC14-036-230-03 Indoor Unit Model Number: CR33-30/36+TDR+TXV Manufacturer Lennox Industries, Inc. Trade/Brand name: XC14 Series Manufacturer responsible for the rating of this system combination is Lennox Industries, Inc. Rated as follows in accordance with AHRI Standard 210/240-2008 for Unitary Air-Conditioning and Air-Source Heat Pump Equipment and subject to verification of rating accuracy by AHRI-sponsored, independent, third party testing: Cooling Capacity (Btuh): 33200 EER Rating (Cooing): 11.70 SEER Rating (Cooling): 13.70 Those are the only numbers they have given me. It is doing better since they replaced the thermostat. Apparently that was part of the problem. Something still doesn't feel right in the afternoons around 1 or 2pm til about 5pm. It's hard to explain even though the temp says 75 or 74 in here it feels like a temperature warmer then what it says. I'm not completely happy. I guess I will have to learn to live with it. Hind site is always 20/20. I think I could have gotten better for the money I paid. I have no qualms about having the return duct work redone. It was needed and I'm glad I did. I am concerned this winter when the weather is below freezing. Is it going to be able to be as good as my old system. I didn't worry about frozen pipes or anything. This one has me concerned. I never did find out what was recorded on the AC unit. I don't know if it showed the compressor running like it was suppose to, if the fan was running when the compressor wasn't or anything like that. It only records for 24 hours and they put it on 3 different times so they could compare the readings. Never received any feedback. I guess they didn't like my comment day before yesterday. I think I got stung big time. ............................................. Bobpratt That is when I notice a big difference is in the afternoon. I also have a very low attic (can't stand up in) and even though I have huge shade trees to the east and west of the house the sun does beat down on it. It is also the heat of the day. Would you elaborate more about holding the plastic bag to the intake vent. Are you saying if the coil is freezing up it won't suck it up? But it still sounds like it is running like it is suppose to be? ....................................... I'm not sure why all these dealers are pushing Lennox. Just my opinion.....There are better out there....See MoreHow long did it take to sell your last home?
Comments (33)We are in a rural area, one large employer in the county. Our neighborhood is desirable, and this has been a pretty Spring. Only 10 days from listing to ratified contract, full price, this week, yay! Part was luck: our local market had been slow since the downturn, so we gained an advantage from pent-up demand. And just recently, four homes in the neighborhood sold, providing a solid basis for pricing our home fairly. Part was standard preparation: we decluttered, cleaned, bought fresh kitchen towels and pretty shower curtains, and did some very minor repairs. Didn't go overboard with updates, other than a new medicine cabinet & light for the master bath, so some flooring and fixtures are obviously 90's vintage. I don't know if our floorplan helped or hurt -- our rooms are generously sized and flow well, but not "open concept" and no first-floor master suite. We had five showings. Two said no right away, two were non-committal. But the right buyer came along, they are truly looking forward to living here. Fingers crossed for a smooth closing....See Moredeweymn
