There's an appliancerepair.com...I believe. Look them up. It's pretty good because you can enter your appliance's model# and get a run down on possible breakdowns and fixes. They also sell the necessary parts at a discount and I've used this site to fix my own appliances. Let me know how you make out.

I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it.

Our GE Monogram was noisy for two years, then it just...stopped. I don't think it was as loud as you are describing, but it sort of *groaned*. Like your experience, the repair guy tried this and that, including a new fan motor, but in the end we just waited it out. It's built in, so I was reluctant to start over. On the plus side, it's still going strong after 13 years.

Washer is pretty quiet - it doesn't have the 'jet engine' noise during the spin cycle like some FL do. The control panel is very easy, and you can set up your favorites in the 'My Cycles' button to minimize the button pushing. The dryer is fantastic - it does make some noise, but nothing major. Our laundry room is between our kids' bedrooms, and haven't had a noise complaint from them in 18 months. It is also right above our dining room, and we haven't noticed the noise from below unless we're listening for it (to see if it's still running, or if we need to go up and move stuff to the dryer). Vibration is a non-issue, even on the second floor. On the connection between the washer and dryer, I could take it or leave it. We have it hooked up, and it is sometimes convenient (washer tells the dryer what settings to use), but if you've left stuff in the dryer too long and want to run a de-wrinkle cycle before moving the already-washed stuff in the washer, the dryer starts talking to the washer before you can get the de-wrinkle cycle started, and you have to wait for the 'conversation' to end before changing it back to 'de-wrinkle'. I've been too lazy to unscrew the connector to fix it, but now that I've ranted, I'll probably unhook it tonight.
