GE Profile FL Colossal Washer Dryer First Impressions

I have only had this pair about two weeks so canÂt vouch for reliability but, I

will admit--So far, I love these! They are the "Colossal" units with the triangle doors. There is a sanitize function as well

as "throw rugs," comforter cycle, second rinse, pre-wash, a soak

feature and many other specialty cycles. I have had no problems with

over sudsing, twisting/tangling of garments or wrinkling. In fact, the

clothes come out of this dryer with fewer wrinkles than from my top

loaderÂeven when I donÂt remove them right away. I havenÂt tried the

"De-Wrinkle" cycle. No need yet. The washer actually has a reverse roll

feature that keeps the clothes from tangling and "fluffs" them at the

end of the wash cycle. Another really nice feature is the built-in rack

that pulls out from one of the dryer fins for drying without tumbling.

No need to store an extra rack. There is also a hook that pulls down

from the top of the drum for drying on hangers without tumbling. I have

all white bath towels and they come out beautifully.

The units hold an amazing amount of laundry! The regular cycle takes

about an hour while the sanitize cycle can take about two hours. There

is a data cable connecting the washer to the dryer. The wash settings

are sent to the dryer to automatically set the dryer cycle for each

load. You just put the clothes in the dryer and push "start," even for

the specialty cycles. This feature can be disabled, if desired.

The dryer cycle runs 30-35 minutes. The units are stackable but mine

are not stacked. I got the regular pedestals, forgoing the $500.00

dispensing ped that holds and automatically dispenses "6 months" of

detergent and softener.

I have had no mechanical or performance issues in the appx 10-15 loads

I have run. My only complaint so farÂthe end-of-cycle beepers could be

louder. I have them set to high and canÂt hear them from basement to

upstairs.

Be advised that these units are very large so if you have space

limitations, be sure to measure.

I bought them at Home Depot with a Sears sale price match, less 10%.

I got the champagne color. The washer was a little over $1050. and the

dryer about $850. I also got a GE rebate of $100. for the pair, and a

Home Depot delivery rebate. I paid 99.00 ea. for the service contract

because it covers power surges and we have a lot of those.
