My refinishing project (Before and After pics)

Here's my $15 bookcase--with its $16 worth of paint and stain. :-)

For those who didn't see my plea for help, I bought the bookcase to hold Roku and antenna rotator, and any other TV paraphernalia I may acquire. Its existing light pine finish would stand out way more than I wanted in the spot I had in mind for it, so with the KT's help I painted everything but the top, which I stained. I guess technically I'm not finished yet, because I plan to apply a polyurethane coating on top of the stain.

The paint color (Do-It-Best's Best Look in "Pumpkin Stem") is just what I had in mind. It's hard to photograph, because like all paints, the color changes depending on the light. In dim light it looks almost black. In bright sun it looks like a turtle green. The picture drove me nuts because most of the piece looks like the paint has some blue in it (it doesn't), and the bottom looks too yellow where the lamp light hits it, but I could play with the image all day and not get it any better than this.

Thanks to all who helped with this project!
