aliceinwonderland, Yes, I know about drinking grape juice. My mother was Italian and when we didn't drink a glass of red wine, we drank grape juice before anything else with our meals. So I have had a great share of delicious grape juice throughout my life. In fact I would have never thought my mother and my father would ever die of disease, because my mother made wonderful, healthy meals, hardly ever going out to eat, and hating fast food. So I know their disease came from other things around them. Since I want to be healthy for my family I try and find bad things to avoid and additional good things to take, to help me with the war against disease. I mainly drink filtered water, green and oolong teas with cinnamon sticks, apple cider with cinnamon sticks, pomegranate and grape juice. But thank you so much for recommending grape juice, for everyone else it is a great juice to take as it is a wonderful antioxidant. Now that I have listed all the things I do drink, maybe we can have some comments on what I truly posted on. I only added a small PS about something good I have started to share, yet the rest of this thread was about the huge dangers of fabric softener. Really are people that bent out of shape with a small suggestion of something good to take. Yet not bent of out shape with the idea that our whole society is brainwashed to put fabric softener in their rinse water? Since I see no way of editing my already posted thread, if someone knows how to get this thread off please do. It actually makes me sick with the way people like to point a finger at what another is doing wrong. Since that has become the main issue here. You know, people need to support one another more, take a look at the "March of the Penguins" movie, do you know how all those penguins survived deaths cold, where no other life has learnt to survive? Well they each take turns blocking the dead cold wind from each others backs. The inner circle of penguins were never told by the outer circle, hey youre getting something were not, because they know, their time will come when they would be in the inner circle getting warmed, and those that were warm would be in the outer circle once again. See our world is just a bunch of fighting seagulls instead; just looking to make sure that the seagull beside them doesnt get the extra scrap of food. It is really really sad, how people can only find the negative to comment about. If I didnt know the dangers of fabric softener, and came here and read this, I would just be glad someone came and posted it. Not say, oh look they added a small PS about a health drink, so they are just thinking about their own self profit. My true intention was to help bring awareness of a bigger problem as my heart aches with the ignorance of peoples ingestion of poison, and the growing number of deaths among our loved ones. My mother, father-in-law and mother-in-law all passed on within 22 months of each other, all with sudden quick growing cancers, if it can happen to them, it can happen to any of us. It all has to do with the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the things our bodies ingest from the chemicals around us. Things like the huge ongoing use of fabric softener. I found this laundry site through a Google search. I have been posting for a few weeks now, and have never added a PS before. Yet like I have already posted I just couldnt handle watching the fabric softener going so quickly at work, without trying to say something to someone, and since I knew about this laundry forum I thought of added a thread of friendly warning. Yet I cant believe I have to keep writing a truce about my small PS of a health drink, as I just wanted to include about something good I knew about too. When I went on the thread about Charlies Soap, it was a plug of something good, how come no one is upset that they are making sales because of that. I just dont understand people. I have used Purex Fabric Softener for years (20+) because I tested many Fabric Softeners in an allergy skin test & had reactions to everything, but Purex. Unfortunately, it is not distributed widely enough & periodically whereever I find it (sometimes grocery stores, sometimes Walmart & Target) at times stop carrying it. I liked the original just fine & actually find all the new fragrances fairly heavy (including Almond Milk & Aloe), but am very excited that they are addressing the sensitive skin market. I really can't use dryer sheets since they leave a film on clothes & make me break out. You are right, it is so nice to have towels & clothes smell fresh & not fight with my perfumes.

Yeah, it was me. Our Miele Senior Tech, said that they see the most problems with people who use "green", plant based soaps and softeners. He said they gum up much easier, and are actually harder to rinse! He said of course Persil and Miele Care Collection have been tested the most in Miele machines, but most he detergents are fine. Actually, up until somewhat recently, Miele was listed on the back of Tide he, as a recommended and tested product! I use Persil Colour Gel and Ariel Gel mit ActiLift about 90% of the time. I recently picked up a HUGE bottle of Tide he liquid with a touch of Downy with ActiLift (it was on sale for $9.99...and is HUGE). I've done 3 loads with this he Tide liquid with Downy...and I am actually shocked how clean my clothes are. Smells great too. A soft version of Downy. I still use a little liquid Downy FS in the dispenser, but not too much since this detergent has Downy in it. Stains are gone, odors removed, soft clothes and smells really clean and soft!!

Patann, I hope you have a humidifier of sorts in your home with the temps below freezing. That right away will help on so many levels. With that said, the amount of oils in a lotion plays a big part of it. Unfortunately, most formulas are proprietary with mentioning the AMOUNT of oil in the lotion/cream formulas. They only list ingredients in order of the most to the least. Try to look for something with the 2nd ingredient an oil of some sort followed by water. For my dry skin, I always use something that has 25% - 30% oil of some sort in the formulary. Glycerine is excellent on the skin as it draws moisture from the air and to your skin throughout the day. Dimethicone is added to formulas mostly for slip and to leave behind a silky feeling. It does very little in adding moisture to anything (and I feel should be avoided in hair products as it builds up on your hair and over time actually keeps moisture from absorbing into your hair. If you have ever detoxed your hair from it, and your hair feels like straw as soon as you strip that out you will know what I am saying. Paula is a huge fan of cones and there is a lot of debate over them in the formulary industry. They are cheap and not needed in hair products unless you have very course and curly hair). Cones can be good in hand creams however, at a higher amount because it works like a silicone glove if you are a nurse or someone that washes their hands often. For really dry hands have you tried Camille Beckman products? I haven't purchased her creams in years but they work wonders on my 84 year old mothers hands. Since I make my own products, I haven't tried much of what is on the market today. However, I do remember liking the Kiss my Face Olive and Aloe products. It was a good all over head to toe formula. Now days I use unrefined shea butter or EVOO on my wet face most of the time. I keep it simple as the less ingredients on the face the better IMHO. Basically, a very basic formula is all you need for your body. Even basic cetaphil or eucerin cream will work for dry hands and body but since they are heavy in mineral oils they will sit on top of your skin much longer than something made of different oils. If you want some luxury, LUSH puts out some nice body creams. Or you can just stick with something as simple as keeping baby oil or even shea oil, safflower oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, etc. in the shower and putting that on your entire body while rinsing off.
