If you want nice crisp results, especially around cuffs and collars, a steamer by itself isn't going to do what you want. You might consider a steam generator iron, which will greatly reduce the amount of time you spend ironing, and deliver superior results. IMO, it's just amazing how much easier and faster ironing becomes when your iron is delivering copious clouds of steam. Everyone who has ever tried my steam generator iron, has gone out and purchased one for themselves. You'll still need an ironing board, but ironing will become so much easier. What is the hardness of your tap water? If I understand you, the water is milky even after being emptied after one use. I suppose this milky water could come from a higher concentration of dissolved solids in your water after some of the water is boiled off inside the iron/steamer. If you find that your water is really hard this would all make sense. RO water is sometimes not recommended for appliance use because water void of minerals is termed "aggressive". Depending on the materials used inside the iron, the aggressive water might react with and leach minerals from the iron/steamer internals. If that is the reason Rowenta doesn't recommend RO water you can get around it by mixing a bit of your tap water with the RO water.

Oh  didnÂt know these were sold in the US as well Well, I have a steam cleaner (Kärcher) with iron accessory and IÂll never go back to a traditional non-pressurized steam iron. My steam cleaner works very similar to the LauraStar Steamax -> lots of hot steam and pressure, yet the iron is cooler than a traditional one. The vertical ironing (vertical steaming) function is great. I know most traditional irons offer a similar feature but they just donÂt have the same pressure as these semi-professional systems. The LauraStar Magic additionally offers an ironing board with a built-in fan to quickly cool/dry items. A very nice feature  have seen it several times on QVC Germany  but I donÂt think it's necessary. I do however like this Teflon Sole Plate. It reduces the temp to about 175°F  very useful for colored and delicate items. There is a learning curve when you first use one of these systems: what I had to get used to was that I didnÂt have to go back and forth with the iron several times to get the creases out. Regular items like sweaters, t-shirts or even jeans donÂt need to be ironed from both sides any more because of the pressurized steam -> saves me 50 % time. Before I had my steam cleaner (and the iron accessory), ironing would take an hour  now itÂs 35 min. or less. I can also iron bedding and other over-sized items, which took me forever in the past. Now I just fold them once or twice and iron them that way. If you do a lot of ironing the LauraStar Magic might be worth it. Otherwise the Steamax should be sufficient. Of course you can also check out similar (non-imported) products by other manufacturers  these will be less pricey and basically work the same but may have less features (if thatÂs important to you). I have an immersible blender thingy too, and I really like it. The hand mixer I had was about 30 years old, and the shell was cracking so I deep sixed it about a year ago. Space issues, of course. I might find DH's hand mixer packed up in the Teahouse, once we get to unpacking the things stored after his house sold. Actually not much (except BOOKS) from his house came down south, because the buyers wanted the furnishings left as they were. I did get my stainless flatware, but left the multi colored dishes and all his pots and pans. He had a roasting pan to fit his big oven, so that stayed up there--no need for a 20 pound turkey here. And our ovens would not hold such a big pan anyway. I keep quarter sized cookie sheets. They fit the Breville toaster oven, the new gas range oven. The 9x13 Pirex baking dishes fit in the microwave. I am tired of cleaning the goop out of the turntable microwave/convection Sharp oven, so I sprung for the Sharp microwave drawer that will be below counter on my cooking side, with a narrow cabinet between it and the gas range. I am looking forward to it. I seldom use the m/w these days, since the turntable and hot pads make it hard to remove containers from the tight cabinet w/o spilling something or getting burned. I'll probably sell it at my yard sale in early spring....maybe early March. The immersible mixer is very easy to hold if you have stiffness in your hands. I use it for stuff cooking on the stove, such as mashed taters and gravy and use the big blender for smoothies. I love my green smoothies. They beat cooking any day, but I could blend up cream soups in it, such like.
