Does everyone hate front load washers/dryers or is it just me?
Comments (255)@Chris Powchuk I don't agree with that at all. I had an Electrolux front load. Crappy machine. Bio-stink built up on clothing. You would think after running a 2 hour cycle with warm water, on heavy cycle with extra rinses would result in clean clothing. Nope. The machine was also clean as a whistle inside and out. I kicked that machine to the curb and got an LG. Much better machine. Clean clothes and clean smelling clothes. So I do not believe they are all built the same or operate the same. I used to dry the boot and leave the door open on my Electrolux. Never any mold. I have gotten lazy with my LG and do not dry the boot but do leave the door open and again no mold. I run affresh on the tub clean cycle every now and then and that's about it. And top loads are not exempt from mold. I had a Fisher and Paykel top load at my previous house. That machine built up mold all around the outside of the tub where you couldn't see it but boy could you smell it. We had to take the whole tub out and drag it into our shower to clean it....See MoreNew Samsung WF330 Washer & Dryer
Comments (7)I just got this washer today. Didn't get the dryer - I couldn't justify replacing my very functional though ugly and scratched up Kenmore. So far, I'm really liking the washer. Of course, I've only done a few loads so far. Everything seems to be nice and clean. I'm nerdy enough to admit I sat on the laundry room floor for a few minutes to watch the first load washing. Yes, with my face like an inch from the door since they're tinted. I was washing my children's bedding. At first I was concerned because it didn't seem like my son's quilt was getting wet all the way through. But the washer adds water a bit at a time - like it adds some, does a few tumbles, and then adds some more. Within a few minutes there was enough water that everything was wet and there was a pleasant "slosh" sound. (I'm weird - I love that sound.) I got mine via Best Buy online for $611 - free shipping and install. The installation guys were friendly and very efficient. I left the metal wrench that comes with the set (to remove shipping bolts and level the washer) on top of it during my first load to see if there was any vibration - nothing. I definitely don't think it's silent, but the sounds I hear are the motor (slight humming), the water pump on occasion, and a slight and lovely sloshing sound when the wash cycle really gets going. I have noticed a little water in the seal after each load - won't be a problem to get in one swipe with a microfiber rag when I'm done for the night. Got a load of whites (towels and washrags, mostly) in there on Sanitize now - I'm very eager to see the results. I didn't get the extended service contract. I generally don't - my experiences with them in the past have not been pleasant. I'll wait through my 1-yr parts & labor warranty from the manufacturer, then I'll add the washer for $5/mo to my service contract through my gas company. I have been very pleased so far with the service calls I've had through them for my range and dryer....See MoreNew samsung WF350AN Washer and Matching Gas DV350AG Dryer
Comments (1)I don't own the units and was cautioned by my repair man not to purchase Samsung because parts are hard to get and "they" won't repair them. (I did point out that they didn't repair my Kenmore either. They just told me to buy a new washer!) Anyway, I'm in need of a new washer and have researched many machines (which means some people really like and some people really hate their machines.) Until today I didn't consider the Samsung, based on my reliable repair man's suggestion. But looking at them today at Lowes and going home to do as much research as one can online -- I think I'm going for the Samsung. I loved it's look; the size was right for my room; some people got lemons, however and I hope neither your nor I get one. I'm not so sure I need or want to pay for the steam feature, however, but the machine has features I want and sometimes you have to pay for top of the line features in order to get the lesser ones that you will use most often -- I need to research that more thoroughly. I don't think it's a huge issue if sheets get rolled up; I haven't had a single washer or dryer that didn't occasionally get things rolling into a ball. If you see it happening, stop the machine if possible and sort it out. Not a big deal. Right now, I'm going for the Samsung. Can't help you with owner experience, but maybe I've helped you go with your own instincts. That's really all we have unless you know a really good appliance person. Good Luck....See MoreIs stacking Samsung Dryer DV337 on Samsung Washer WF337 recommend
Comments (10)Amd111~ For what it's worth, I have a Maytag Epic set. They are stackable also & did require a kit... Just remember if you have to take the feet off the dryer to put them in a safe place!... Anyway, I originally had mine stacked & it didn't seem to cause any problems; no extra noise, vibration, etc... Also, we live in a mobile home, and there was no problem w/ the weight at all, I was also paranoid about this to begin with. Just recently, I unstacked mine to create hanging space in my laundry room, remember the "tip" above? I lost 1 of my dryer feet & DH had to rig up boards of the perfect height to go under my dryer so it was the same height as my washer! About the venting situation... Why couldn't you buy a longer dryer vent, possibly the expandable periscope vents, and maybe even a longer dryer cord if necessary to put the machines like they're supposed to be? I had to rearrange my laundry room from the way it's supposed to be set up b/c of the depth of my machines, I just bought a longer dryer cord, a periscope vent (these also let you push the dryer further back), and longer washer hoses... All of this stuff is readily available online. Anyway, that's just a thought, good luck! Mc_Hudd...See Morenerdyshopper
